I believe Warhammer World and Adepticon both had
FW open info this weekend. I have compiled the info, mainly from
this topic on Dakka, which contains info also gathered from Warseer and BoLS - so thanks to everyone whose hard work I'm summarising
IA11- Aiming to get it done for Gamesday UK
- Although they're in the next
IA, Space Wolf stuff isn't a high priority currently. There's only likely to be one special character (Bran Redmaw, who has stats in the book), whose released sometime after the book. Thunderwolves are quite low on the 'to do' list, though Warwick hinted this might be because of plastic one coming soon (note that this is purely conjecture ATM). Also, Wulfen are back! There's a datasheet for them in the Appendix, so there's the teeniest tiniest sliver of a possibility of a conversion kit for them (again, don't hold your breath).
- SW – Redmaws company – models limited to characters - possibly two versions of Redmaw I’d guess as he turns into a wulfen on a total of less that 5 based on the roll of a
D6 and his remaining wounds. May have some company shoulder pads etc but they haven’t started on the models yet. Some very nice new artwork in the book for SW.
- Phantom Titan is fething huge! It towers over even the Reaver.
WS 3,
BS 4, 12/12/11 Init 2, Attacks 3, 8 Structure Points. Don't expect it on sale till Gamesday (which is September here in Blighty). Comes in at a hefty 2300 points. Features the Cobra cannon, the pulsar (which is 3 shots), the starcannon (3 shots instead of 2), which can be swapped for a pulse laser for free. Also has missile battery (S8 AP3 4 shots) and a
AA mounted missile battery (S5 AP5
AA Mount). Usual 4+ invuln if it moved, but can chose to turn driver stunned into gunner stunned, so should only stop moving if it gets immobilised. Has the usual rules for fleeting titans as well, and weapons have a 12" minimum range. Only current other weapon is the sword seen previously. Will hasn't finished making it yet, but the sword comes with a 2nd twin linked starcannon built in. He also hasn't ruled out expanding the line of guns
The lady with the rule book (who i'm sure is an important person, i just don't know her name) said the reaction today towards the rules was mixed, so might be changing.
- The rules for all of the eldar stuff has changed since the playtest rules and has changed again since the version they had on show. In particular the phantom titan is seeing large changes and they are still playtesting it! It will be more points that the copy they had there stated, much better guns, higher armour value and better holo fields.
- Another example is the lynx which is seeing a huge point increase (only fair) the shadow spectres which will be both cheaper and better. Gun getting longer range too and squad size increase so you can have the 5 man squad and the exarch for example.
- Hornets have changed and can now move and fire both guns which was it's biggest flaw. Can also become a flyer. War walkers have been adressed too.
- Aforementioned Phoenix Lord for shadow spectres. Probable rules for ‘special characters’ involved in the story but models unlikely. Some discussion about points and which
FOC slot for spectres (
HS or
FA)
- Wraithseer – Looks even better unpainted in a non static pose. 0-1 choice. Buffing powers for other wraith units as per my previous posts. The Wraithseer is a
HQ wraithlord, his physic powers include one which force an enemy unit to take a moral check at -1 or fall back immediatly. Another gives one wraithlord or wraithguard near him fleet (!). And the other, if a friendly wriath unit within 6" dies roll a
D6. On a 6 its still alive, with one wound left. It also has a 4+ invulnerable
- Corsairs – List includes solitaire! (apparently its therefore unlikely to make the main codex when that gets redone). Can take a vortex grenade in Apoc. WS8. Sounds like it may be getting a model as well. Corsair entries are all jetpack troops. Options for nobles and ‘support squad’ (which may all take flamers or meltas). Special and heavy weapons upgrade parts where there as WIP. The ‘insect wings’ look a lot better in person than they did on the photo. Mentions of a gryninx (spelling?) cat upgrade as wargear for the cosair prince/captain and also a neural shredder. Able to include
DE warriors, venom and raider which is pretty cool.
- Apoc templates – the avatar one sounds great: Apoc data sheets, including one which is a 550pt Avatar, has 2D6 wounds, a 2+ armour save and his wailing doom is upgraded to a Strength D 10" template. However hes still a monstrous creature, not a gargant. He's important in the story as its the avatars last stand so he goes out in a literal blaze of glory. So at the end of the game he takes
D6 wounds with no saves of any kind allowed . Designed for use with the
FW avatar model as kind of a mega-tar. At the start of the game he gets 2D6 wounds. Can then fire his wailing doom using the big apoc pie template but loses D3 wounds on each shot. Also a seer council of sorts and various
FA style corsair formations.
- Storyline for IA11
Basically centres around a lost elder craftworld (of
FWs making) search for the spectres phoenix lord to try and restart the aspect. Imperial forces not really aware of why they are being attacked. Campaign scenarios follow the search for the lord with the outcomes of the games determining if he is found.
Dark Eldar-Some new Deldar stuff is in the works-some kind of laser thingy for a raider, and a 'Catamaran'. There was also talk of a Jabba's barge-esque style ship, but I didn't really spend much time with the Commarite stuff.
- Initial Production and Evaluation on bits has begun. The model on show (with the double hull) is likely to be a light super heavy. I mentioned my theory that
DE superheavies would look like Jabbas sail palace from Return of the Jedi he laughed and said they probably would...
- Lots of concept art for
DE skimmers, one of which was a super charged Ravager, that had 2 floors, each with 3 Dark Lances on both sides
Badab War- The Badab war still rages-their are Astral claws shoulderpads for both Power armour and Terminators, plus a transfer sheet (with both Lion head and Tyrant's claw icons). No other chapters yet (except Salamanders, who also got Power armour shoulder pads), but there were some Carcharodon marines with some suspiciously transfer like symbols on their shoulder pads...
- Didn't get any pics, but they had a WIP salamanders dread (the dread special character from IA10). Think the MKIV ironclad as a base with new knee-pads and Iconography on the main torso.
IA12 & IA13???- Dark Eldar are being worked on but it seems unlikely that they will be in IA12. By the sounds of it more likely 13. One possibility is that they will revisit the IA11 storyline with the
DE trying to obtain the CWE tech that was discovered. Possible elder on elder action? Its all up in the air at the moment so is very subject to change. Most of staff seem to be involved with
WH forge stuff.
Older SM Designs/Pre-Heresy- Not sure if its been mentioned, but the models with the pre-heresy jumppacks also had PH-esque chainswords and pistols. The chainswords were a cross between the current CS and the
CSM CSs (ie had the box shape of current
SM, but the chain is visible about halfway down the back). Not a major difference, but clearly variant weapons. The pistols looked to be similar to the pistols in the commander upgrade pack
- Theres deffinatley more Mk armour coming out i think Mk4 and Mk5 and jump packs (not sure what Mk they come under)
Other stuff- Also heard Darren Parrwood say that they are controlled by the main
GW design studio as to what they can work on at Forge World, so they can only really do stuff that is already being done for the main line of
GW. He then went on to say the entire
FW studio wants to do Necrons, but they can't for a while, the Tomb Stalker was done as it currently "fits" with the line of Necrons produced by the main studio. I'm guessing that means the Necrons aren't due anytime in the immediate future then...
- Warlock Titan: Will Hayes wants this. And it will happen. But probably not till the next
FW Eldar book (his words) so means we get another Eldar book! it'll be the same size as a phantom, but more ornate, with more wraithbone extrusions. He joked about having the psycannon mounted on the side of the arm, so both hands were free for a giant spear
- Finally, Warwick confirmed that when
40k Chaos is next done, it'll be Slaanesh and Tzeentch based, hopefully with Daemon engines and rengade Guard lists. No idea wen though.
- Modular Boards: With the first Fw board expansion available (its very nice) someone said they were looking at expanding a lot more now they've got the technology down, with buildings, ammo dumps, train lines and trench systems forthcoming
