News and rumours

maybe they should allow 1 of each model per person for the first x hours, and then start selling whatever they have left without restriction?

I would be happy with a 1 per person limit on figures, and free delivery of any additional wanted, at FW events and GD. I've often picked up a few figs where people have asked me, but it does get annoying when you queue for ages to then find somebody who's only out to make a profit has bought up all the stock. But I don't think FW/GW will bother trying to stop this - they make the same amount of money either way, and they get to ensure all the stock they took is cleared.

It would be nice if they maybe had a voucher system at events like this, you get to buy up to 1 of each model and your ticket is punched/stamped when you do, then at the end of the day they could still have the option to sell the excess once everyone who wanted something has had their chance to buy. Of course, you'll still get people who go around getting the vouchers off people who decided not to buy so that they can buy up multiples, but at least they'll have to go back into the queue each time they buy 1 of each.

EDIT: Damn, I spend ages writing this having just seen Boomstick's post, and then find Tim has already suggested basically the same thing in a single line on the next page :P

Got a reply from FW today.
Don't think it was any more than was to be expected.

E-mail in full:

Hi,

Thanks for your e-mail. We are well aware of this seller, and indeed the practice of selling Forge World items on eBay. We can do nothing to stop someone attempting to sell our products at a profit, although the sensible amongst the eBay community will be aware of the fact that these models will be available at all our events this year, and in the case of the Khorne Daemon Prince, available to pre-order later this month.

Yep as dan said, profit, they dont really care that ppl do it as long as they get the money...

you know FW should have a Ebay account and release minis 2-3mths prior and leave them to ppl to buy, i reckon some ppl would pay alot just to say "i have it"

Rationing FW figures? You really think this is wise?

I can actually see the point in what they (FW & the ebayers) are doing. Having a model sell on ebay for hundreds of smackers that will only bring tens of smackers from the official source in the near future elicits a LOT of interest from folks. It has piqued everyone here, right?

By the way, I'm going to reveal a bit of a secret here, that may belong in the more general conversation area.

The really _good_ Gamers are good at finding and using exploits. So are rich guys. (No moral is to be found in this post. Dont even look for one.)
The rule of 40k is "most special rules winzzors (unless your grey knights)" so sayeth me.
