General stuff soon (added vague tau rumours p3)

Postby killmaimburn » Thu Jan 10, 2013 12:28 pm

So a few people have the DA codex in hand and are telling us weird 6th ed things
belial prevents scatter (thats not super awesome)
"They cannot hide" rule, units that gain precision shots like CHs have (you know all about them if you've been playing 6th ed a lot) etc etc.. scour warseer threads for hudge chunks of stuff coming out, e.g. return of the sacred standards (again I kind of meh myself)
http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthrea ... os/page110

Loads of people saying demons are getting a proper codex end of febuary, which is really weird too. Plaguebears on flies although that would be awesome I meant plaguebearers -on flies is one of the things people are talking about. (and people are saying blight drones are NOT in).

People saying CSm waves of models out soon, starting with thousand sons (there rules will still suck though) and a khornate terrain piece..(I still salt that due to summer of terrain and it being out of order unless its twinned with the demon codex somehow..DS with your terrain piece or something.. nah)
Tau appear to have vanished from all the shedules people keep talking about. Might be due to weird year new writer is releasing a bunch of codexs, rumours of a black templar WD update this summer. a load of shuffling appears to have taken place.. If anyone wishes to condense the rumour mill from all the other places please do so, but keep credit for original sources intact.

Well no one is saying it isn't coming out this summer... they just aren't updating those posts anymore and now have other stuff coming out in that time period and you can't push it into autumn winter because that is going to be some big eldar todo..
Crowded release schedule much.. e.g did anyone actually notice the release of a campaign book in the time slot everyone had been expecting DA late last year.. it looked pretty cool.. but apparently ran out in 4 days so before anyone had it in their hands to hype it up it was unavailable :5dunce :5dunce ..

kmb, I got an email from wayland the other day and they were advertising it at 10% off, crusade of fire I think it is, I looked at it, but ive barely played 40k since 6th came out, I still think 5th was a better edition and ive discovered other systems that are eating up my time and budget. I dont think ill ever give up on 40k totally but im just fed up with the money driven ethos of gw.
am I the only one who doesnt like the new white dwarf either??

The new WD hasn't made me read it in any more depth. I just skim through it with a passing interest these days.

I'm aiming to try out some 6th ed once I've got the Clash of Kings tournament out the way at the start of February.

Woo Stock 66, thats 66 more than GW... I shall have a look. (although random peeps be warned it appears to need you needing other expansions,e.g. planetary empires etc to work)

As to derailing for constant oldmanitus, 5th ed now looking back was a vapid cup of coffee you could chug whilst running to work (I enjoyed playing 3 games of movie marines with smarty proxys over 2 quick pints once), 6th ed actually has some depth to it a nonchuggable whisky, once you've played enough to master the rules its back to 4th ed thinking about stuff rather than just shoving units around with a broom, but there isn't any point me trying to convince a forum that put together has played less than 10 games of it.
yes new white dwarf suck, meh I struggle to find any magazine that doesn't suck in paper format now. Yes money money money mooohoney.

Nope your not alone Paul. Like I think someone already said on here: you're paying more to be told what to buy this month. It's mostly advertising. The articles are not interesting. The painting guides don't teach/show you anything any more. And the battle reports are a joke.
And another thing that is irking me with WD is the posters for the past 2 months... Ok it's nothing new for GW to do posters with all their kits on. But the last 2 have little tick boxes next to every kit, like you achieve something by collecting them all. I can see it now.. 100s if not 1000s of bratty kids telling mum an dad to buy them this or that just so they can tick a box...

I don't care for the new codex limited edition hard back copies, that just takes the p***!

But... I have yet to see another manufacturer make something I like as much.. :(

But back on topic. I rarely see rumours unless they relate to Space Marines in some way :/ Has anyone seen/heard any relating to Sisters of Battle?

kmb you could be right there, 5th was like coffee, flavoursome, vibrant and fun which gives u a bit of pep, and 6th is like a good single malt, which leads to melancholy, headaches and mad drunken schemes that lead nowhere

Toby, now I have wrestled nige away from tanks I am getting to playba bit of 40k again, and I agree 6th has so much more depth than 5th and is a massive improvement on the ruleset but people ain't going to find that out after one or two games it requires a real good understanding of all the mechanics of the game. People complained that 5th was too simplistic so it could appeal to the teenage new starters now its complaining that 6th is too complex and 5th was much more streamlined.

You can't please everybody all of the time. Now hurry up with that little project discussed in the other thread as James is getting impatient ;-)

FFS you guys grass is greener whahh whahh, name some good white dwarfs from after the earlymid 90s, in fact don't we know they don't exist apart from as a marketing scheme to get us all to buy the chapter approved books... oh those money grabbing weasels. This stuff hasn't changed your just yet to come to terms with change.

Top 5 white dwarfs of KMB post 2000
> Free sisters of battle (crap) codex
> Free spearhead game.. (which to date I have only heard of armegeddon inc actually giving it a whirl)
> Free terminator and goblin to encourage people to buy AOBR..many free models were had.
> That one with a few the apoc formations for sisters and guard..
> free space crusade missions with additional races orks scouts and nids- oh ok I lied that was from 1993ish.
If you bought something outside the top 5 more fool you.

I bought a few outside that list, but the grass was greener then, things where more streamlined and I wasn't so uncomfortable with things changing :-)

Srly you could have found better stuff on web fanzines for free from any point lat e 90s onwards..e.g. the official ish warseer magazine that existed for a shortwhile under darkseer's (briefly a member here) editing.. batreps, new units tactica reviews, stories, home made rules.. for free. Why would anyone buy something (and disappoint rage) when stuff like that is a half typed auto completed google away.
