Imperial Armour Volumes 1 & 2 PDF updates

Postby Spack » Fri Aug 28, 2009 9:32 pm

Forge World have released updated PDFs for Imperial Armour Volumes 1 & 2.

Imperial Armour Volume 1 Update v1.1

Includes a fully revised Armoured Battlegroup list that brings it into line with the new IG codex, as well as the Vulture now listed with the Punisher upgrade. Also updates all other vehicles in IAv1 to fit with the current ruleset. A few things that I've noticed so far:

  • Conqueror doesn't have Lumbering Behemoth, but does have coaxial rules and the main weapon is now S8 AP3.
  • Shadowsword was missed out, instead FW duplicated the Baneblade - DOH!
  • Many of the vehicles with squadron rules in the IG codex aren't listed in squadrons for IA1
  • Vulture remains a Heavy Support choice, 1 per FOC

Imperial Armour Volume 2 Update v1.3

Another adjustment to the IAv2 unit rules. Changes include:

  • clearly stated fire points on transports
  • allowed chapters now listed rather than just "Space Marine army"
  • Damocles lost re-rolls for prelim bombardment
  • Land Raider reverted to transport 10 models
  • LR Prometheus reverted to transport 10 models
  • LR Prometheus gains Night Vision
  • LR Prometheus is now an Elite choice
  • Dreadnought Drop Pod added
  • Deathstorm Pod uses BS2 instead of BS4
  • Hyperios battery reduced to 25pts each
  • Inq LR and Prometheus down to 10 models transport
  • Inq Valkyrie is now a skimmer and a flyer (latter for Apoc only) and gained Grav Chute Insertion
  • GK LR down to 10 models

Addition of Apocalypse rules for Super Heavies and Flyers to replace the old IA rules for these.

It also gives a reason for people to buy Forgeworld Dreadnaught Drop Pods.
50pts rather than 35 but gains the assault ramp rule.

15 pts for the ability to drop in, shoot and assault - Yes please.

Cheers for the heads up Spack.. ..now if only they'd do a further/second errata to the apoc IA book :)

Does the IA1 list update differ from the vraks 3 list radically or they fairly similar?

I might have to do the super cheesy of not using FW for the dread drop..maybe the scratch builds are GW and the GW is FW.. ;)

Yes, the IA1 list is different - AF squads for infantry, Hellhound/Banewolf/DevilDog squadrons (DK only get Hellhound as single tanks), aircraft support, weapon platforms, sentinels.

PDF updates for the other IA books (vols 3 to 5, and Apoc) are in the works, at least according to the people at FW I've spoken to.

How does the ettiquette go, regarding these "new" points values, in existing codexes, regardless of age?

Well I think everyone over in the warseer witchhunter tactica thread is using them, and has been for some time. I was the only sucker not using them.
However, I would say it's an ask opponents permission sort of thing. I can't see a problem with it.

Forge World have posted another IA Volume 1 Update PDF; this removes the duplicate Baneblade, adds the Shadowsword, and moves the Armoured Battlegroup list to the end of the PDF rather than at the start.

This is getting silly now. The Vol 2 PDF got updated again today

http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/pdf/IA1update28AUG.pdf

GK LRC has gained the multimelta option, Inq Valkyrie is back to being a dedicated transport for an Inq + Retinue or Stormtroopers. Not sure if anything else has changed.

I do like the way they still say 28 th aug on them.. very confusing..
Email them and get them to release another new one just because they now have the date wrong.

Why am I having time to be a git on the net...theres packing to be done :clock :car25

Forgeworld Vanquishers are slightly altered as well. 20pts buys you a co-axial, which allows you to reroll to hit.
75% chance to hit may make it a worth while AT choice after all.
You can take either storm bolter or heavy stubber for co-axial, though I don't think anyone will take the bolter option. 3 shot better than 2 in this case.
