From what I understand, any models fully or partially under a template or blast marker are automatically hit, is this correct? If so, different from 4th for blasts, but the same as it was for templates.

well now u don't then, so they are right!

If i have this right, battle sister templates are better because you work out how many hits with all templates in the squad then roll to wound, not place one template, roll to wound, then the next template etc which gives less hits. 5th ed will make 4 flamer dominions very useful again.

Blasts had to roll for partials, but template weapons always hit in 4th.

Sorry let me clarify.
ALL template weapons, be they blast or flamer are automatic hits on a partial in 5th

yes, my understanding is that Multiple Templates got nastier (i.e. they undid the nerf they put in place when we moved from 3rd to 4th ed), but Templates in general got no better.

(although, now you can kill models outside of Range & LOS then most weapons have gotten a boost)
