'Nid and BA FAQs are out

CCWs stack!
Tyrant/Swarmlord in a unit don't count as IC! (can't pick him out :D)
MAWLOCS CAN DS ON A MODEL!!!
Doom DOES NOT effect models in a transport. Models may take a cover save from Spirit Leech.

Barley skimmed this thing and I already like it.

Blood Angel FAQ

Demolisher is Lg Blast.

Apparently you can use smoke launchers during a scout move? Huh?
They totally missed the Sword power...still infinite duration heh.

Blood Angels

Surprises...
Furioso Librarian not being able to take extra equipment (seems to contradict the Ork FAQ regarding order of upgrades being irrelevant)

Tyranids

Surprises...
First Q, page 2 (seems to contradict the answer to when you check range for Furious Charge in the BA FAQ)
Lash Whips (sort of, there's a wider problem with what order to apply things that needs resolving, this answer doesn't help with that in the slightest)
Spores + IC (unheralded change to the main rules AFAICS)

agree on surprises.
also they speifically say that the tycho sillyness (that he can't join the death company being the leader of the death company) is correct.
Working out furious charge at each initiative step (not even just after assualt moves.. but if the priest is alive when someone starts thinking about punching) thats fairly weird.. I'm sure they had some named chars who did it at the start of the assualt phase.. ( someone has been thinking too much about the roxxers needng balancing and too little about precendents...again).. Basically eldar etc just kill the (IC) priest and make everyone str 4 .. (oh yeah thats why I hide mine in a landraider all game)
Is deepstriking via a transport also with super killing effect on jump troops jumping out the back of a bloodraven thngy..or am I just reading that in a silly manner?

I thought that at first too, but then realised jumping out they are in fact using their jump packs. What this stops is, for instance, a BA player trying to reduce the Storm Raven's scatter when deep striking because there is a jump pack embarked. Would also affect Thunderhawks, or as allied unit in an Eldar Vampire. Can't think of any other cases right now ...

Hahah, spack can now talk KMB almost as well as timewizard.. be afwaid..be wery wery afwaid..

Units that don't have jump packs but have the descent of the angels rule anyway (assualt marines)..I can't remember whether they faqed that they lost that when they gave up their packs.... landing in a drop pod.
:D

Ah yes, that one too :D That's not covered in the FAQ, so yes there is a chance (given the mentality of the average Warseerite) that a player may try to use the DoA rule when they're in a DP; "but they still have the DoA rule, it must work when they're in a DP/Land Raider because otherwise it would make no sense the unit having it as a standard special rule because the jump packs give it to them anyway". Yes, you forgot the DSing Land Raider of scattering doom!!! :P

I don't get it... surely this covers it?

Q: If a unit with Descent of Angels rule Deep Strikes via
a transport, teleport or means other than by jump
pack, can the Descent of Angels rule still be used?
A: No.

Agreed its all encompassing, I was just wondering if it was so encompassing that it covered assualt marines jumping out of a bloodraven thats all.
Having reread the skies of blood rule.. I think its still funny..but you would have to be a nutter to argue it.

Baragash, my reply was in relation to pre-FAQ attempts at rules lawyering claims of being able to use DoA when in DP or LR.

Skies of Blood is fine though - it explicitly allows DoA, so is not affected by the FAQ ("via a transport" therefore implies a unit that is still in said transport).

Tyranid faq: Confused by the faq not allowing an independent character to join a unit with a spore and deep striking with them. This is the opposite to the main rule book! Why the change? Or am I missing something?

Yes, this looks odd - maybe GW decided that a spore should only carry one single type of creature and not a mix. Still, this should have been erratad, not an FAQ.

Possibly because in the main rulebook, an IC can join with a unit in their dedicated transport, which is a vehicle.

The mycetic spore is a monstrous creature, not a vehicle and is purchased as an upgrade to a brood, not as a dedicated transport.

It has a special rule that allows it to carry an infantry unit or a single monstrous creature so the FAQ just kind of clarified it. Also, the Tyranid Prime looks like the only independent character the Tyranids have, so I don't think it's that big a deal.

I do agree though that it's dumb not to allow the spore to be deployed empty. A good tactical option has been removed by this rule. The marine pod, which has similar rules, is allowed to deploy empty but again this is by virtue of its dedicated transport status.

I'm not liking not being able to deploy spores empty either.

I know. It's really muddled because the broods that can take a mycetic spore list the spore under "Dedicated Transport" but the spore's rules make it not follow the dedicated transport rules in the BRB. :?

The only bright points are that it is T4 with 3 wounds and a 4+ save so it has a bit of survivability.

Looks like their best use might be to get a doom or a zoanthrope into the enemy's rear area, but the bad side is that since neither of these are troops, they couldn't grab objectives late in the game.

Going to be a lot of thought into how to use these units, but at least there is now some definitive answers.

On a separate note, this is interesting;

Q: Can a Mawloc choose to Deep Strike onto a point
occupied by an enemy model on purpose in order to
use the Terror from the Deep special rule?
A: Yes.

Would this mean that any other unit in the game cannot choose to Deep Strike onto a point occupied by an enemy model (as opposed to scattering there)?
