The End Times, a
40k singles tournament @ Warhammer World on August 20th & 21st for up to 128 players.
On the 20th and 21st of August this year there will be a
40k gaming tournament held in Warhammer World, Nottingham, that hopes to offer the best of both fluff and competitiveness.
The event will consist of 8 games of increasing points values. The first 4 games will be at 1000pts, and the final game on the Saturday will be a 1500pt battle. On the Sunday there will be another two 1500pt games, climaxing in a 2000pt game for the final. Players must stick to the same codex throughout the tournament, but can change the composition of their army as much or as little as they wish at each points increase.
The competition will use a combination of tournament points and a playoff system to decide overall rankings. On the first day everyone will be using tournament points for all five games. At the start of the second day the top 8 ranked players from day 1 will be invited into a quarter final playoff system to determine their positioning and the overall winner – there will be no ‘knock-out’ rounds in the playoffs, losers will simply play losers and winners with play winners to determine ranks 1 through 8.
Those who did not make it into the playoffs on day 2 will play on using tournament points to decide who the top xenos and top Imperial players in the room are. After game 7 on the second day the top 8 Imperial players from each of the Imperial codices (highest ranked Space Wolf, Blood Angel, Dark Angel player etc) will go on to play a special grudge match against the top 8 xenos players from each of the xenos codices. The overall winners of those grudge matches will give a tournament point bonus to every player in the room on their side, not a large one, but enough to separate them from an opposing player who has the same game record as they do. For example, the imperial players beat the xenos players 5 wins to 3 losses in game 8, so all the imperial players in the room would get a small tournament point bonus added to their total.
Tournament points will be awarded on a win, lose or draw basis only. There will be no ‘soft scoring’ points available for sportsmanship etc, but we will happily eject anyone from the competition if they feel this gives them license to behave poorly.
Prizes will be awarded for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, as well as top imperial and top xenos players in the room. A prize will also be given for top painted army.
Tickets will cost £42 and will include a lunch on both days. Tickets are available
