Very amusing link at ytth. It does seem to reinforce the tournie player stereotype!

Never mind me, I've only made it the once, Nigel's the one we need to worry about!

For clarity, no this isn't the system that's been used before. And hopefully won't be used again if they go back to an actual tournament rather than a gaming weekend.

£55 for a gaming weekend? Seriously...

Yeah, Stelek is special.

However, he does have a point. If you are going to label an event as a tournament to find the 'best' 40k players, then all you need is a straight up tournament system in the way that the previous incarnations were fought. If you want a gaming weekend, you can add in soft scores and generally mess around with stuff.

But this is a bad mismash which sefves neither 'type' of player. Those looking for competative matches get screwed around by soft scores & the fact that the best players don't play the best players. Those lookng for a fun gaming weekend don't get to play fun senarios, use interesting FW units, and and up playing beardy madness armies.

GW needs to man up & decide what they want 40k to be, at the moment it's neither fun & fluffy, nor competative under the rules in which they wish to run it.

Going to have to agree with Stelek basically - it's a big f&%k up.

As Ljundhammer says, no one wins here.

What a tosser!
I suggest the forceable removement of some vertebrae + some inventive shibari type nonsense so he can suck his own doo daa forever!

He is right though, sounds like a mess.

Lets be Devils Advocate - Its not all bad?

Take Fantasy - in last years tournament Daemons of Chaos were the big winners with their undercosted characters and rules. Now all those Daemon players are now competing against each other. So if they all score high then thier average will be high and your margin of victory will be lower (5 wins @5pts minus Faction Average of say 9 gives 15-9 = 6pts)
Whereas if you use a less popular army say Tomb Kings; if you win all your games you will get a large margin of victory of 10pts (5 wins @3pts minus the standard 5pts for a 2day event: 15-5 = 10pts)
Plus you will get an Award for Best General of the Tomb Kings!!

Is this not a good thing?

As to 'Favourite Army' points - lets hope we end up playing fellow Club players then we can vote for each other.

As to Best Roster - unlikely to come into play, but well if it does - take it like a Man.

As to Randomly selected opponent - totally fair - just pray to Lady Luck for 5 draws versus Noobs than 5 hardcore tournament players. Guess it is to get rid of those players looking at top table places or disappointed as they drop down the numbers to the bottom.
I've had tournaments where I've only played people who all got top 20 places at the end.
Only once where 3 of my 6 opponents scored below 100th place, I still did not get to the final.

Will I go to a Throne of Skulls event - probably just to see how it feels compared to the old tournaments.
