Updated FAQs (28/07/08)

Postby Spack » Thu Jul 24, 2008 5:04 pm

GW has updated the Dark Angels, Space Marines, and Witch Hunters FAQs today.

http://uk.games-workshop.co.uk/news/errata/3

First thing I noticed was the Dark Angels squads can no longer split and deploy one combat squad in a Drop Pod, so at least that now matches the codex :)

Ugh, they didn't fix the "Combat squads are Scoring Units" bit. Maybe next time.

Re: Updated FAQs

well theyve finally changed the "Updated:..." date, although the Tau FAQ file size is still listed incorrectly.

most importantly though, they still arent putting issue numbers/dates on the FAQs!!

so if 2 people turn up with different copies of the same FAQ there are going to be problems... :|

Can anyone tell GW that they really need to put revision numbers and/or revision dates on the FAQs themselves?(or maybe we can start a request petition :?:  )

Culven,

Am I missing something on this? Why wouldn't Combat Squads be scoring units?

The only requirement for a scoring unit is that it is a Troops choice right? The Combat Squad rule clearly states that each is a scoring unit in the codex.

I think the only clarification needed is that Combat Squads of Non-Troops are no longer scoring due to the 5ed rule changing the qualified scoring unit type.

they fixed the holy rage thing for penitent engines being sick again (ljundhammer will like)
Can anyone spot any of the other changes though..(I didn't study the big batch hard enough  ) ?
Is it worth sending in all your comments about the chaos one again Tim?
That ahriman one is just silliness in terms of game play\points.(he's gone up to the attic in the useless for edition box)
And to make sure someone has told them about spore mines and Killpoints and checking thats what they meant (etc etc etc)

I note that Yackface isn't credited on the Dark Angels FAQ...

i think thats the issue he is refering to (Dev Squads, for example, and RW Speeders). plus the wording needs to be changed to ingnore the half strength bit.

Oh yes, that's what I meant! Appologies to Yakface if he thought otherwise.

Jlong05,

As Tim said. There are some on Warseering claiming that the Ravenwing Combat Squad and the Combat Squad rules which apply to devastators, Veterans, and other non-Troops units override the 5th edition restriction that only Troops choices can hold objectives. They are using the claim that the codex always overrides the rulebook, even though in this case the rulebook is the newer ruleset.

OK I m tracing with you. This is one of those silly RAW issues in which the rules lawyers have nothing better to do. It should be common sense that the non troop squads wouldn't score, but I guess its really GWs fault for stating Combat Squads are scoring instead of simply saying that if a 10-man squad splits it is now considered as 2 separate 5-man units with all normal rules still valid.

Oh well, maybe GW will get it right in version 10.

Okay, I admit it, sometimes I am as dense as a dwarf star :banghead

Help me here please, where does it say that all combat squads are scoring units? The rulebook says that an army's scoring units are those that come from the troops allowance (on the FOC I would reckon).

Please be kind, I am old after all
