Walking Wounded Tourney at Worhamma Club, Sunderland

Postby KInG » Sat Mar 22, 2014 9:47 pm

Great day out. Thanks to the club and Jonathan Layton for running the event. Decent turn out, and a great bunch of guys. Friendly, helpful and gameplay was fun and relaxed.

I took a few videos of my games and have just finished uploading them. No editing though I'm afraid, I just uploaded them raw, otherwise they wouldn't go up for quite sometime. I thought it a good opportunity to test out the new HD mic I bought for the iphone also.

If the videos don't describe all three games I had, I'll add some more text later to fill in any gaps. Last game vs young Adam was the most entertaining. Totally bizarre amount of inv' save on turn three pulled the game back from the brink for him, and the fact I decided to place the guy I was hired to protect on the edge of a cliff, which he decided to jump of along with the unit designated to him as bodyguard :( silly me.

Ok so here goes: BTW my first game was against young Adam's (game 3) dad; Leigh, who went on to win the whole thing...

Now I've uploaded them all I can go watch them myself too.. have fun.

Nice set of videos KInG, really enjoyed watching them. The new mic is working well too.
It sounds like it was a well run tournament and a lot of fun to play in.

I hope you handed out cards with the AOS link on it so the people there could see what you recorded?

Overall, well done, felt like I was right there, I even managed to pick out a word or two that I could understand! :)

It might just have been the way it looked on film but did your opponants seem to be more prepared for the events different missions than they should have been or was there a rules pack with them in before army submission?

I'm not sure mate tbh. I did suggest to the event organiser, who I played secobd, that the missions could maybe have been revealed in advance to let people be prepared, but I think he was trying to keep them secret till the event.

Yeah not fair if he's also playing the event! I'd have been all kinds of pissed of at that... It'd have refund time me thinks.

Wait a second, the event organizer, the one who drew up the scenarios and designed the special rules that were going to be used, participated in the event?

Hmmmm.

Out of curiosity, where did he end up placing?

top... !!

lol no he didn't come top cause you will have remembered I beat him - at his own game as it were :)

It wasn't a very serious event I would say. Very paid back and played with a large degree of emphasis on having fun. I mean would you let someone fly their screamers in a curve over your bikes to slash them as they pass over... Actually, can you do that now that turbo boost doesn't require you to end up a certain distance from where u started. Young adam correctly pointed out to me that a line doesn't have to be straight, it can be a curved line.

I know, I'm researching it!

I know how I would play it, just trying to find back up.
