Valkyrie in normal 40K

Not so much a Development as a question; would any of you have a problem if I use a Valkyrie in a normal 40K game but changed it from Unit Type: Flyer to Unit Type: Fast, Skimmer?

Not me personally. And if you wait a few months you won't have to do this as "house rules" anyway ;)

sounds fine to me too, and a darn sight less complicated than using the flyer rules (:P).

if you use it this way, i think it should also have Deepstrike. :)

Isn't the whole its always 12"+ away from where it really sits.. its main defence..I remember once I had range on spacks flyers and was able to get passed the needing 6s to hit, they all dropped like flies.
I'd be tempted to either points drop or give them eldar holo fields or something to compensate.. (which book would I find this one in bTW?)

Eldar holofields are in the Apocalypse rulebook.

Even in Apoc if a Valk is intending to embark or disembark troops it has to move as a Skimmer for that turn and so will lose the BS6 and +12" range benefits of being a Flyer, so having it just act like that the whole game isn't a big issue.

Points wise though a drop is recommended - the IA2 Update PDF has the Valk at 120pts now instead of the 140pts in IA Apoc and IAv1, so I'd suggest dropping it to 120pts (or maybe a little less) if using it solely as a Skimmer.
