Apoc question: Remote Drone Network and Fliers

Postby eiglepulper » Fri Feb 20, 2009 8:20 pm

Some friends and I will be playing in a 30k-a-side Apoc battle next week-end: Tau vs IG/Blood Ravens. The Strategic Asset I have chosen is the Remote Drone Network, which can be found on P.68 of the Apocalypse Reload book.

The question concerns the use of this asset vs enemy fliers, and is simply this: when measuring the 24" radius of effect from the nominated point on the table top, is the usual 'add 12" for shooting at fliers' rule used here? In other words: would a flier have to be within 12" of the nominated point in order to be able to be targeted by the Remote Drone Network's markerlights?

The RDN rules just state that every enemy unit within XX" is Markerlit by one counter; it does not make any differentiation for those units being fliers.

As the IG player has numerous fliers, this is a question for which the Tau players would appreciate a good solid answer which is naturally why I'm asking the experts on Age of Strife.

Thanks in advance for your help, guys.

I would say 24" from the point of origin for the asset, since the drones are and I quote "Above the battlefield circle scores of drones."

So working on the theory that the "shots" (yes I know they aren't really shots!) are coming *down* rather than *up*, the gravity effect which would be normally assumed to apply to weapons other than AA-mounted would NOT apply to the MLs from the circling drones?

That makes sense.
