In the Dark Eldar codex, the Talos Pain Engine has
D6 attacks.
It's wargear lists that it has "Close combat weapon". Not "
A close combat weapon" and not "Close combat weapon
s".
Under options, it can take an additional close combat weapon.
It can also replace one of its close combat weapons with either a twin-linked liquifier gun, an ichor injector or chain flails.
Now the ichor injector and the chain flails are both designated as special close combat weapons (page 40
DE codex) so if the pain engine replaced a
CCW with one of these, it would get
D6+1 attacks for having 1 normal and 1 special
CCW and per the main rules.
When I build a list in Army Builder© and give the talos pain engine a twin linked liquifier gun and the additional close combat weapon, it lists the number of attacks as "
D6+1". But in the
DE codex, the liquifier gun is listed as type "assault 1".
To further complicate it, on the model, the liquifier gun is modeled on just one arm, which could lead one to believe that it is indeed a one handed weapon.
Now I am aware that what is on the model and Army Builder© do not necessarily constitute rules or clarify rules. So, after all this background stuff:
1-Does the liquifier gun constitue a
CCW giving the Talos Pain Engine an additional
CC attack?
2-If the liquifier gun is a
CCW, would it be considered a special
CCW since it is archane wargear?
Considering any of the above, how would you play it with a Talos Pain Engine with an additional
CCW and a twin linked liquifier gun?
Thoughts?
