Fielding allies with BTs

Postby reaver13 » Sun Aug 31, 2008 3:26 am

Can someone that owns the BT codex point me in the direction of where it specifies what allies can be taken? I swear I have looked a million times and can't find it. I ask because of the new AoBR marines have the Tac squad symbol molded onto their shoulder which doesn't fit in with the BT style thus I was going to turn them into Crimson Fists. I just wanted to make sure I could field Fists with BTs. Thanks.

By BTs, are you refering to Black Templars? If so, there are no rules which would allow Allied Space Marines of any kind in a Black Templars army. The Daemonhunters and Witch Hunters codecies could be used to add some Allied units, but not Crimson Fists.

Well, I just reviewed my BT codex and see no rules allowing for allies. Maybe you were thinking Apoc rules? or WH/DH?

Ah, I guess I was just "stretching" the rules or what not and assumed if Inquisitorial allies could be taken other allies could be as well.

Well in this case I'm slightly annoyed by the tac squad symbols coming on the AoBR minis. Looks like hours of endless filing/sanding for me :(

Or just paint them as crimson fists and use them as black templars.
Reasons: They have been seconded to the templars for work experience / cultural exchange program / ancient pledge to send aid / because you like the crimson fist colour scheme and wanted to have some but didn't want a full army so these guys are just visiting okay?

I never much cared for the idea of paintig Space Marine models in the colours of one knwon chapter and using the rules for another chapter for them. This is especially true when the two chapters have completely different rules. If you want to include Space Marines from another chapter and have them count as Black Templars, IMO, they should be a related chapter so that the similar rules would make sense.
