Grey Knight Attacks

Postby thesignaller » Fri Feb 03, 2012 1:51 pm

Can I just check how many attacks Grey Knights get?

Am I right in the following?

Grey Knight with Falchions in a unit with a brotherhood banner gets the following in combat-
Standard 2 attacks,+1 for the banner +1 for the 2 combat weapons, +1 Falchion bonus giving 5 attacks?
With Halberd-
Standard 2 attacks +1 for the banner giving 3
And Sword
Standard 2 attacks +1 for the banner, +1 for 2 combat weapons giving 4 attacks

Thanks

Normal grey knights only have one attack base. Purifiers and terminators have 2 attacks base. With a nemesis sword, they don;t get an extra attack - they only have one close combat weapon. The brotherhood banner does indeed give +1 attack. Normal grey knights can't take a brotherhood banner.

So, for normal grey knights:
Falcions - 2 attacks
Halberd - 1 attack
Sword - 1 attack.

Terminators (with brotherhood banner):
Falcion - 4 attacks
Halberd - 3 attacks
Sword - 3 attacks.

hope that clears it up.

Just to clarify for thesignaller, Falchion doesn't give +2 Attacks, it only gives +1 as per the FAQ.

Thanks for that

It is the Terminators I am on about

I thought the Storm bolter counted as a close combat too (but doesn't count with halberd as it is 2 handed), so with sword you got +1 for a 2nd close combat weapon

As for Falchions I thought it was +1 attack as per rules for 2 close combat weapons (2 falchions and storm bolter) and +1 for falchion special rules

Unless specified otherwise, only close combat weapons and pistols can get you the extra attack - a storm bolter is not a close combat weapon.

As Socaddict says, even though a Stormbolter is wielded in one hand by a terminator it is not a close combat weapon or a pistol, so does not grant +1A. And the Falchions are covered in the FAQ as Baragash points out, the +1A special rule is not on top of +1A for two close combat weapons, it's simply clarifying that the single weapon system Falchions gives +1A overall (which I personally think is a rubbish copout, and gives pretty much no reason to use them).

Thanks for all the replys.

Can't see any point having swords either, may as well take the halberd to get the +2 I

Think the Falchions should get the +1A and the +1 for second Close cobat to make it worth while

Swords give you a 4+ invun in close combat on termies. Thats the only real reason to take them...
