Linebreaker - Do units in close combat count?

Would an enemy unit still score a linebreaker point in my deployment zone if they were in close combat with a unit of mine?

The rule book is a little unclear, however it doesn't seem worthy of a victory point as breaking the line yet been unable to defeat a unit of warriors is hardly victorious!

Thanks!

If the enemy units are falling back or they have gone to ground then they do not count.

Other than that, you (or your opponent) only need one model from a denial or scoring unit to be in the enemy deployment zone to get the line breaker victory point.

Hmmm. It doesn't seem fair that any random enemy unit should earn a Linebreaker VP if they are locked in close combat.

Slaying the Warlord and First Blood etc are worthy of the VP, as would first defeating an enemy unit and walking free into the enemy deployment zone 'victorious'.

However blatantly getting tied into CC knowing you may survive in order to gain the VP seems unworthy.

It does. Therefore you need to stop him.
