Melta vs Forts?

Ok this came up in a game I was watching today and the rule for melta states that you gain the extra d6 vs vehicles. So the argument went that a fort is not a vehicle so no dice.... Is this correct?

Not really. As per page 93 f the rule book, "Units may shoot at or charge an occupied building just as if it was a vehicle."
Buildings have an armor value like a vehicle. Melta weapons gain an extra D6 against a vehicle's armor value at half range.
So you would get the extra D6 against an occupied building.

Yes, anything with an armour value would be okay for the melta effect.

This is how I'd play it, but both the rules for melta an armourbane say specificaly only against vehicles (not things with an armour value) and Armourbane makes much more of a point about it.

Armourbane; ",this special rule has no effect against non-vehicle models." even the flavour text says it's only designed for vehicle armour!

Another clear example of GWs poorly written games material.
The only "hobby" GW is interested in is lining their pockets with your money.

I agree Melta should work against anything with an armour value.

DL - From page 92 of the rules, "The main difference between buildings and actual vehicles is that they can't move, and units from either side can go inside."
That coupled with my previous rules quote that, Units may shoot at or charge an occupied building just as if it was a vehicle." the key part being just as if it were a vehicle shows that melta and the like that have special rules against vehicles, use that same rule against occupied buildings.

Bear in mind that unoccupied building cannot be attacked. That's why the vehicle rules are used.

Ha that Dakka topic didn't help at all they just devolve into argueing about if a vehicle counts as a unit or not without ever getting back on track and resolving the original issue.....
