Newbie Questions

Postby thesignaller » Wed May 25, 2011 2:33 pm

Hi

Can some one please tell me?
when shooting a unit, does all the unit have to shoot at same target unit?
i.e Marine Scouts with sniper rifles and 1 missile launcher. Can Missiles shoot at a chaos dread and snipers at unit of chaos marines?

Thanks

Yes they do unless they have a special rule which states otherwise.EG: Space Wolf Long Fangs can split their fire provided the squad leader is still alive and does not shoot in the shooting phase the squad can shoot at two different targets.

"A firing unit can choose a single enemy unit that is not locked in combat as its target," p16 on picking targets
Yes most of the time it has to shoot at the same unit.
Also, all firing is simultanous, so any shots that are clever or exceptional are still fired *at the same time.*
"Note: remember that all models in a single unit fire simultaneously" full bit on p67 is very usefull

Thanks for the replies.

A further question - Terminator Armour and Heavy Weapons

Do Terminators move and fire Heavy weapons like walkers, or does unit remain stationary like infantry?

Thanks

As far as I know they are a stable platform and are unaffected by movement and so can always fire weapons as if stationary.

Loyal Terminators have the "Relentless" rule which allows them to move and fire heavy weapons.

Chaos Terminators don't have Relentless, but do have a special rule allowing them to move and fire heavy weapons.

In both cases look in the Wargear section of the codex under Terminator Armour where you'll find the special rules. Relentless is in the 40k rulebook in the Universal Special Rules section.
