Yes. Remember that if you are wearing 2 single footed shoes, you get +1 to the number of laces you must tie.

mattjgilbert wrote:"or a single close combat attack using any weapon carried, including grenades."
That says that you can make a single close combat attack, not that a grenade is a close combat weapon.

It actually tells you that a grenade is a "weapon that you can make a single close combat attack with [when DoGing]" not that it is a "close combat weapon".

@Matt: what if it's master-crafted Velcro?

Didn't Michael Jackson wear a Master Crafted Glove? Would that have counted for +1 attacks. ;)

Seriously though, The amount of conflicting directions in the 40k rules is redonkulous.

IRL, a shoe would not be considered a weapon, in my state the law has a very specific list of weapons.

What if Matt was wearing 7" stilettos? Stabbing someone with one of those would count as using a weapon, right? ;)
(not meaning to imply that Matt wears stilettos...)

What are you lot waffling on about?
Take this seriously (stamps foot) like I always do.

This is the (stamps foot) rules forum, here, isn't it? What is this forum, st. croc of sh!t or what?

I'll tell you something, you buch of (stamps foot) ******, if you don't take this seriously (spins in a circle with multiple foot stamps) I'll fogging well **** on the lot of you!

@ Matt "t" gilbert, the "t" being "tranny", sort yourself out!

From 'seer ...
Meeeeee!

1. Is a grenade a ccw? Yes, I don't think thats an issue anymore.
2. Is it a special ccw? Not sure still.
3. Can a grenade deliver a special attack? Possibly.
4. Is a special attack the same as a special weapon? No, even though some special attacks mimic the effects of the listed (and possibly some that are not) weapons.
5. Does a special ccw cease to be such, if it has no effect, or its effect is produced from another source? No.
Page 42 tells us, that even if a sccw is not being used, it must still be one, in order that it cannot be used in the first place!!!
6. Is a monstrous creature equipped with a special ccw? No, even though he ignores armour saves.
7. Does a monstrous creature have special attacks? Yes, it ignores armour saves and rolls extra pen dice.
8. If I can't use a special attack, am I breaking rules? No, for eg, the monstrous creature attacks as one, against vehicles one type of attack is used and the other is not and vice-versa.

Now, I have a marine with boltgun, frag and krak grenades, in cc with a grot.
Do I have a sccw that I am compelled to use? Not sure.
More importantly though, do I have a special attack that I can use? No, absolutely not.

The same marine in cc with a rhino.
Do I have a sccw that I am compelled to use? Not sure.
More importantly though, do I have a special attack that I can use? Yes, absolutely.

This is why I don't think the wording of "special attacks" is sloppy or in error, it takes into account the different sources that "special" cc effects can come from and how and when they can be used.

The question is not solely "Do I have a special ccw?"
It is, in fact, "Do I have a special cc attack?"

Index, 5th Ed rulebook.

Grenades.

p. 36 and 63

P. 36 defines the advantages of each grenade type. And specifically -does not- allow grenades any attacks of their own "Any damage done by the grenade is assumed to be taken into account in the unit's attacks in close combat, but the unit using them gains the added benefit described below" But = Exclusive. You gain the advantages listed -instead- of grenade attacks.

P. 63 This is a special exception to page 36 and describes how you can interact with vehicles using grenades. One swing only per model, regardless of the number of attacks.

Thus did the crypt door swing eerily open on creaking hinges.
