Tau jet packs falling back.

Postby KInG » Fri Aug 30, 2013 12:26 am

Can a falling back jet pack user fallback and then use its jet pack in the assault phase to move forward, keeping it further from the board edge?

This came up in our game tonight, and it just seems strange that they wouldn't just keep running backwards, instead of bouncing forwards and backwards. Also do they fallback 3d6 or just 2?

No. Units that are falling back can only make fall back moves, even in subsequent phases, until they Regroup. Main rules page 30.

Since Jet Pack models are classified along with jump units and jump units fall back 3D6", jet pack models would do the same.

Not quite, jet pack models do fall back 2d6 as opposed to jump packs that fall back 3d6.

Having a look at how the fallback and jumppack rules interact, he could use his jumppack move in the assault phase if he wished, but would have to use it to fallback not move in any other direction.

Lol another thing I cheeted my self with (I was going 3d6 back).... It's the same as run moves you can fall back and run forwards, something I'd also forgotten to do in the game (not that it mattered).

No u cheated me. They are saying you can't use the assault move to move in any other direction than backwards towards to board edge.

But yes you were jumping back 3d6 with some. When you told me that jump packs can only move d6 in kovemrbt phase that made me think then they probably fallback like infantry also.

Defiantly not mate. It specifically states that when you fall back in the movement phase you cant move in any another phase other than to fall back. You can run/jump pack move but only towards the board edge you are falling back to.

Page 30 for fallback moves.

And I though the jet pack infantry would fall back like jump infantry. Mea culpa.

Fair enough I'd missed that line (even though it's in bold!) and so have quite a few people I've played against this edition.

Mmm. So there might have been a few less shots at me from those dudes running away.

And I think you fired interceptor at me when I landed and then fired at me again in your turn too. That was critical as that was the turn in which the game turned. :(

Well you should learn the rules better then as you don't have time to "just ask" the forum during a game ;-)

It's not a mistake I normally make as I'll fire one wepon for Intercepter then leave the seondry free to shoot in my phase. I'll keep an eye out for it though in future. All I can remember is you deep striking out off sight so I couldn't use it most of the time.

But interceptor is per model not weapon. If your model fires interceptor then it can't fire a different weapon in my turn.... ( runs off to check interceptor rule)....

Ah so it can fire another weapon. Cool. Ok then I may be wrong, but I don't recall you 'not firing' some weapons. Maybe there are just that many of them I felt you had fired everything. Lololol
