USRs and characters

Postby timewizard » Thu Jul 15, 2010 7:21 pm

We had a lively discussion going that finished up by talking about USRs and which ones were granted to units by characters and which ones weren't.

There is now a discussion going on over at DakkaDakka about upgrade characters and it has now gone off on a tangent about independent characters.

I guess this would be a good time to open up the floor to the questions;

1-Which USRs do Independent Characters give to a unit they have joined?

2-Which USRs do unit lose if an Independent Character without the same USR join them?

3-Are upgrade characters special rules gained by a unit they are joined to?

For 3, I believe the answer is a simple yes.

Thoughts?

The BRB tells you which ones do what concerning characters joining units. Not sure what the problem is with those.
Upgrade characters are a bit more tricky. The usrs should be taken case by case to see if they would be applicable.

The problem is determining whether a character even needs to gain a rule in order to be affected by it (for example, because the rule apparantly affects "the unit", and the IC is a part of that unit).
