CSM Heavy choices for UKGT

Postby Daimyo52 » Sun Aug 02, 2009 9:04 pm

this is my current list but the 2 vindi's just don't cut it at longer ranges....

Nurgle Lord ( plaguebringer )
Khorne lord ( twin claws )

8 zerks inc PF champ ( rhino )
7 PM inc PF champ and 2 x melta ( rhino )
7 PM inc PF champ and 2 x flamers

3 x Oblit
2 x Vindi ( DP )

the nurgle Lord doesn't do much and I am thinking of dropping him along with the 2 Vindi's.......

my thoughts are either total oblit spam and add another 2 x 3 oblits or take 2 landraiders.......... 1 especially to get the Zerk unit into combat early open to suggestions

I see what you mean with your 2 rhinos 2 vindies your going to be cut dead in quarters battles (much as I am with my reliance with damn multimeltas, you been listening to ljundhammer  )
I think a possessed landraider for your beserkers and IC is handy. I don't see what the second would do (whats its payload?)
Oblit spam -yeah its very flexible and deadly with a talented user, considered termicide for a bit fo variety? 105 points 3 termies with combi melta (or combi plas I guess) who drop behind those tanks and gunline sat 80"s from you.

(wouldn't it help if your 3 list threads were together? I'm confuzzled)
Off to answer on the lash :D

several ideas going through my mind after another couple of games................

is a 2nd land raider any good to drop a PG squad of on an objective and then be used as a fire platform

is it worth dropping a rhino and the defiler and havoc launcher for another oblit to make 2x 2 ( instead of 3 ) and taking a lascannon dread to go with it

2nd landraider- takes us back to your first thread.. LH's brother runs the same(as does LH currently).. Landraiders are nice in pairs.
Dual landraider is definitely difficult to beat.
>Problems..
Nurgle aren't the greatest for seizing and objective- they are stalwart keepers of an objective.. Consider some of the bersker +IC tricks floating around.(edit, you are proposing keeping the zerks?)
This is the GT and dual landraider did very well last year.. so expect a lot of anti landraider stuff (I'm taking 7 fast multimelta, 3 static las 1 semi mobile battlecannon in a meq list) and I don'tfeel I am one of those who tailored to dual land raider (I absolutlely lost to baragash's dual raiders last saturday, and only nearly drew against LHs dual raider deathwing)

Lascannon dread is the devil. What will you do when it fires twice into your landraider (or oblit) and actually does something?

2 advancing landraiders move 12
dreadnought hopes to move 6 + run so as to be closer to the enemy than yourself.
If its quarters you can't protect yourself. if its dawn of war you can only protect yourself if the reserve rolls are with you..If its pitched battle you send 1 AV unit off by itself up a flank..(tricky deployement given you don't know what your opponent is doing yet..what if he false flanks you because he knows you fear the dreadnought..)
thing I try to avoid in serious lists
A) choice.. versatility be damned I don't want to have to sit there working out which weapon should be used to be effect against what, that kind of in play extra mathhammer is an extra layer of thought I don't need.
B) fear.. I want my enemy to be messed up distracted..suffering choice (profusion of targets, panic as to mulitple fire units..whatever)..I want to minimize the risk/fear I feel from my own troops. It clears the way to be able to focus on the enemy.

(note my current GT list fails at that (plas bikes, 3 units deepstriking)..but thats because I'm going through a rather fluffy year)
