I was unable to get enthused but the GKs so put them back in their box. I've dug out my DE now and am immediately more enthusiastic. I think it's because I agree with bane, horde lists that get in your face quickly and either shoot you to shit or assault you on mass, are the armies of choice at the mo.

So ideas for my list if you wouldn't mind. I'm thinking venoms with elite kalabites dudes with splinter cannons and Wyches with haywire grens.

I've also recently bought wracks and grotesques, beasts and the archons unit as options also. ;)

DE are by far my fav army in 40k. There are many builds you can make tho some have suffered in 6th ed, such as the wych combat army.
You can't go wrong with true born in venoms, either with blasters or cannons.
Wrecks are great for sitting on objectives, T4, feel no pain and cover make them hard to shift.
Grotesques are one of my fav units, team them up with rakarth and throw them at the enemy and watch him panic!
My fav unit at the moment are beast masters and khymires (sp?). 10 dogs and 2 masters are 144pts, which give you 3 st4 attacks at I6 with a 4++ and they are beasts with fleet to boot. I take at least 1 unit in every game and charge hem as fast as poss towards the enemies main unit, they normally die but not without taking a lot of fire power.
Hope that's giving you some food for thought.

Good reading. I've just done a khorne list with alot of dogs they have w2 sv5++ and only two attacks, so these guys are way better, especially if one beast master has an agoniser or something.

Just bought 4 grotesques and was thinking of putting them with two hermoculi in raider, that gives me three liquified guns and three flesh gauntlets in one t5 unit.

I'm liking the idea of maybe 2x those beast units just to tie up the best shooting units of the enemy. ;)

The grotesques would be a great unit, a big headache for the enemy. Other than those and the beasts what are you hinting of putting in?

I'm thinking to going kalabite heavy. Either as standard troops or trueborn. Trueborn also get the haywire option and also get a save. I was thinking of using wyches as anti tank units. Haywire is a cool weapon to glance vehicles to death. But do I need wyches to deliver them. They would certainly stand up to dreadnought s better with the 4++ save they get in combat.

So 2x 5 wyches with haywire, in raider with dark lance. Give them ethereal sails or retro fire jets to DS them. Other anti tank/flier option would be void raven bomber. And then dark lances and blasters in 10 man kalabite troop units.

Then anti elite, 2x ravagers with disintergrator cannons. Anti infantry 2x 5 true born with 2x splinter cannons in venoms with extra cannon.

Leaving be enough for 10x chimera beat master unit and vect in Dias. :)

Vect should allow me to go first most of the time and his av13 ravager should be a good anti tank addition.

The wyches in the raiders are a good choice. But neither the enhanced aethersails nor the retrofire jets will be much help.
You want the wyches to be anti-tank, but both the sails and the jets prevent models from disembarking the turn they are used.
So you would end up dsing or moving the raider and extra 2D6", but the wyches could not disembark, and with the sails they could not even shoot.
You would do better to put those 10 points into a flickerfield to help the raider survive long enough to get the wyches close to their target.

But TW, they can't assault first turn anyways, not enough movement, so I thought the sails would get me to within assault range for turn two and they have no AT shots anyways, so no shooting isn't an issue.

Then turn two, if still in raider or not, matters not, I assault the vehicle. And what they gonna shoot, the two units of wyches or the 12 beats rushing towards their lines? :D

Okay, so the sails will gain you an extra 2D6".

So you can move flat out, go 18", gain a 4+ cover save due to jink and fire the raider's dark lance, and with flickerfield gain a 5++ save.

Or you can go flat out, go 18", use the aethersails to move another 2-12", gain a 4+ cover save due to jink, and not be able to fire the dark lance.

You see, I know how well my dice respond to certain situations. If I need 7", I will roll '1' and '1'.

If the aethersails gave an extra 12", they might be worth it. For my money, I take the flickerfield before the sails. I need to protect my wyches.

You move 12". Then you forgo any firing and move another 18" flat out. I'm now getting a 4+ cover save in the open. I then move a further 2d6 extra flat out movement.

Now I'm basically anywhere on the board I want to be with a 4+ cover save, but hopefully behind or in some good cover or Los blocking terrain.

Ah, true that about moving flat out. Reminds me sometimes that it's time to read through the rules thoroughly once again!

Mmmm, just bought some grotesques. But have just noticed they are not poisoned like wracks with their cc attacks. :(

So now I'm thinking that wracks are maybe a better option. They get access to same weapons. And are more numerous for the same points. Grotesques, as tought as they are, can still be insti-killed by S10.
