ok, so first time doing a list, and ive got no frelling idea what im doing...

so as nige suggested, im posting what i have, and asking for help :D

i've tried to stick to the WYSIWYG rule, so i'll list what added extras the guys have on them (if i miss anything that you've seen in their pictures, let me know :))

HQ:

Chapter Master in Terminator Armour - Storm Bolter, lightning Claw
Librarian in power armour - power axe (holstered pistol) (psyker abilities?)
Techmarine - Full Servo harness, Power Axe, Bolter
Techmarine - Single Servo Arm, Bolt Pistol, Power Axe
Master of Recruits - Bolter, Power Sword
Master of the Arsenal - Power Fist, Power Sword (holstered pistol)
Master of the Fleet - Thunder Hammer (holtered pistol)
Master of the Watch - Power Axe, Storm Shield (holstered pistol)

Elites:

Ranged Terminators - 4 Storm Bolters, 4 Power Fists, 1 Assault Cannon, 1 power Sword
Iron Clad Dreadnought - Seismic hammer, Power Claw, 2 Hunter Killer Missiles, 2 Flamers
Iron Clad Dreadnought - Hurricane Bolters, Chain Fist, Spot Light, Smoke Launcher, Storm Bolter, Iron Clad Assault Launchers
Standard Dreadnought - Power Fist, Assault Cannon, Spot Light, Smoke Launcher, Storm Bolter
Standard Dreadnought - Twin Linked las Cannon, Missile Launcher, Smoke launcher

Troops:

Tactical Squad - 8 Bolters, 1 Plasma Rifle, 3 Grenades - Sergeant: Power Axe, Plasma Pistol
Tactical Squad - 8 Bolters, 1 flamer, 3 Grenades - Sergeant: Chain Sword, Plasma Pistol
-Optional to either: Rocket launcher with hamster rounds-

Fast Attack:

Attack Bike Squad - 3 Attack Bikes - 6 Front Mounted Bolters, 2 Heavy Bolters, 1 Multi Melta

-Available from previous army-

Untill the new tanks are completed, i've been advised to make use of the older scheme ones, i apologise for their paint jobs...

2 Rhino tanks - storm bolter, smoke launcher each (will confirm when home)

1 Razorback - heavy bolter, storm bolter (will confirm when home)

theres also a drop pod, but i darent show it to anyone... yes... its just that bad!

i've covered as much about them as i can remember, if theres any changes to make when i get back, i'll post it


oh, and this list is to go against nige's boys, so it's either for smushing his grey knights, flattening his IG, or toe to toe with dark angels :D

if he would be so kind enough as to post the point requirement of the game, it might just help whoever helps me :P

Talus-Are these Vanilla Space Marines?
If so, for the tac squad, all marines are equipped with both frag and krak grenades.
By plasma rifle, do you mean a plasma gun or a plasma cannon?
The Razorback only comes standard with a twin-linked heavy bolter. Taking the stormbolter costs extra points. Don't know if you would really need the extra 2 shots, particularly since they are at a lesser range than the heavy bolters.
And every vehicle except land speeders and drop pods gets smoke launchers standard.

Hope that helps to start and yes you need to know the points limit to begin constructing a list.

If you are using the force organisation charts as supplied in the rule book/codex you will need to rethink your list as you are only allowed the following

Up to 2 HQ choices
Up to 3 Elites
Up to 6 Troop choices
Up to 3 Fast Attack
Up to 3 Heavy Support.

Another thing to bear in mind is you need a minimum of 1 HQ and 2 Troop choices 8O

@skywalker - I don't think Talus was posting a list, I believe he was just posting the finished models that he has on hand to build a list with.
That's why at the end of his post he said he need KInG to give him the points limit.
But when I first looked at it, I thought it was his list as well. :D

Due to compulsory choices you have to take 2 troops choices, that will account for all of your tac marines as to get special/heavy weapons they have to be a ten man squad. I would suggest taking them as full ten man squads with both of them having missile launchers as looking at your list of models you are going to struggle with tanks as you don't appear to have a lot of anti tank stuff. I would also suggest taking your 2 Rhinos for the tac squads and maybe splitting them into combat squads as again you only have 2 Troops choices and Troops are very important in 5th ed as they are the only units that can score.

I would also take at least the Dread with the twin linked las to give you more anti tank stuff as well as the attack bike squadron as you have a multi melta in there. HQ I would probably take the Chapter Master in Termie armour and the Termie squad to put him in. Not sure how many points all this would come to as I don't have access to my Codex but if you have enough points left take the 2 Ironcald Dreads.

If I get a chance I'll take a look this evening.

At first glance though you might want to see if Mr King will let you take those HB attack bikes as MM ones instead :)

He should! Since KInG is helping Talus get started in the gaming side, I think a little leeway should be give for "counts as"! 8)

wiz was right, those are just my completed models (not counting the raven or titan)

the plasma rifle is the tactical mounted rifle, so the plasma gun if you prefer

the razor back appears to have had its storm bolter removed anyhow, so its probably the one sitting on a rhino's pintle mount :P



and i'd like to stick to what you see is what you get as much as i can, that way i know exactly what i have

unless someone recommends a better way, these will just be your standard marines, not successor or one of the two fallen legions (though its an idea since i like to be different)

i know squit about special rules for marines, so a little help would be nice ^_^

from the force org chart, i guess my list would look something like this then:

HQ : Chapter Master
Librarian (no idea what he can do apart from hacking people with his axe)

Elite : Hellfire Dreadnought (las and missiles)
Ranged Terminators (with Chapter master attached)

Troop : 2x Tactical squad
2x Rhino

Fast Attack : Attack Bike Squadron

good start? cause really, i got no soddin idea o.o

Given ONLY those models and told I HAD to make a list I'd go with.
Heres a vague thing of something I'd whip out.
HQ

Librarian avenger(good flamer) ,nullzone (really hurts people who rely on invulnerables. 100
Master of the forge (techmarine with double powerclaw, better statline HQ, unlocks dreadnoughts as heavy as well as elite).100

Elites
Shooty termies -230
Ironclad with flamers HK missiles in a drop pod-205
Ironclad hurricane bolter etc=135

Troops
10 man tactical squad with a plasma gun and a combi plasma (the pistol) 225
10 man tactical squad with a flamer and power weapon in a rhino 235
(if you can swap a bolter for a missile launcher DO IT)


FA
MM attack bike-50

MOve to heavy
Dreadnought with asscan =115
Dreannought with TL lascannon+ missile=145
1520 ish

Squad layout..
Drop pod the ironclad turn one into enemy lines using the pod for shock and awe.
LAsmissile sit on your base,along with 5 man with heavy weapon combat squaded from a tactical, the other half goes with the master of the forge and the librarian in a rhino. the other dreadnoughts march/run up behind your rhinos for cover to sit on the middle ground.. MM attack bike zooms around the place turbo boosting to only slow down to take out a AV13 or higher.
Your troops are ok, but not great..there isn't much synergy and power weapons are this editions wooden spoon award for pants (exceeded only by plasma pistols on expesnive single wound models..) but that can't be helped.

General thing to buy- needs a shed load more melta in todays environment :D
Ideally your tacticals want to be something like
Missile melta* combi melta* rhino, (interchangable with flamer and combi flamer)
and at least one of your cheap walking escort dreadnoughts should have a multimelta.

rats... i despise hair driers!

will see what i can dig up, one squad can have a missile launcher, cause i've only painted one up (me + unpainted = not playing)

i want to try and avoid using things from my former scheme, which is why the veterans, devastators, vanguard, sternguard and CC Terminators are sitting out, their paint job is awful compared to this one (you'd think i could have done a better job with black white and gold)

the new rhino's will go next on my to-do after i finish the second tac squad (yeap, its still being painted, currently sitting in at 10 bodies, 10 arms (10 being done tomorrow/tonight) and no bolters! or heads or backpacks for that matter...

so... ok, can a multi melta and a plasma gun go into the same squad? if so, lemme know and i'll see if i can get two done up, that way each squad has a melta, plus the flamer or plasma gun.

as for force weapons, i can kit the rest of my sergeants with chainswords no problems, though an assault squad will be equipped with swords and halberds (grey knights for spare parts ftw)

and theres no combi weapons in my army so far, just standard off the factory floor type things

gotta work on that

You need to get your hands on a Space Marine codex.
Buy, borrow, beg or steal one.
That way you can see what options are available, otherwise you are trying to build a list in complete darkness.

Well both Bane and King have made and used Smurf lists in the past
Banes involved rhino'd wall squads and King used droppoding twin ironclads.
So if they became his foster parent gamers they ought to be able to show him most of the stuff it can do,
E..g. tankshock to bunch then, harness flamer, psychic flamer and flamer= Bye bye grunts etc.
Its by no means great but it will do the job with whats there.(just don't play against guard)

alright, trading the flamer for a hair drier, but the pose i have for the plasma gun, wont work with a melta, or rather, wont have the same effect :P

The pose, while important in modeling, is less important in gaming. The weapon on an infantry model doesn't have to point directly at the enemy model to take the shot.
I don't want this to sound like I'm diminishing your painting, I'm not. Just realize that it's probably more important to you than to your opponent. As long as you both know what models are equipped with what, that's what matters.
I know the codex is costly, but it really is important to have one for the army you are planning to run.
Speak to KInG about acquiring one, maybe he can help you out.
