What Daimyo does next ???

This is what I have been using currently......... stuck with the Termy Lord list as i feel quite at home with the Lord + Zerks in a LR

Termy Khorne lord ( twin claws ) ( 140 pts )

8 zerks inc PF champ ( 208 pts)
7 PM inc PF champ and 2 x melta ( rhino ) ( 256 pts )
7 PM inc PF champ and 2 x flamers ( rhino ) ( 246 pts )

3 x Oblit ( 225pts )
1 x Defiler ( 170 pts ) possessed
1 x Landraider ( for Zerks ) ( 240 pts 0 possessed

have 15pts spare ( havoc launcher for a Rhino ? )

Have played 3 more games with it and I'm finding that the Defiler isn't doing much for me........ it seems to be a bit inflexible movement wise when I have to use it as a firebase..........

think the list above lacks A/T and probably some anti inf fire.........

So what to do next........... lose the defiler and an oblit for a second LR to use as mobile A/T and a spare vehicle for troops if needed........... or go for a LC/HB pred.............

suggestions welcome

How about a unit of seven infiltrating chosen, with five meltaguns. Comes in at 176 points, and allows you make sure the enemies biggest armoured threat (or annoying carnifex/tyrant) takes a rather nice beating before its gets anywhere near your lines.

Defilers will never do what you expect, especially in a competative environment (unless you spam them & CC dreads & DPs - then it's just funny!)

Where is your list failing? You seem to have enough anti-tank with the oblits (I'd recommend only having 2 in any one slot & giving your troops icons to DS the oblits into melta/rapid fire plasma range.

It looks like you are really light on troop/ horde killing from range (especially without the battle cannon). If you put icons on your troops, some termicide might do - 3 x terminators with combi-flamers (I can'ty remember if you can get heavy flamers), or failing that get another obliterator for 2 squads of 2 - they can do everything (but not all at once!).

I quite like Socaddict's idea, but I'd load them in a rhino, get a few cheap flamers on them, an icon, a power weapon (or fist) and outflank. This may take some heat off your scoring troops & give the LR time to unload some angry bezerkers into your opponent's lines. 198pts (I think) for 6 in a rhino with 4 flamers, Icon of Chaos Undecided and a power weapon.

1 x Defiler ( 170 pts ) possessed..Erm.. defiler comes with possessed off the shelf... you don't need those extra 20 points tacked on..
Woo I just saved you 20 points on a GT list (normally that means you owe me a pint :) )

Infiltrating melta is good.. hurts if going second.. the current fashion by conquistadors of cheese is 5 by 5 in a rhino outflanking (virtually the same) .. The idea behind it is that without being hit first they drive on from a side..12" deploy 2" and 6" capable of totally wrecking a landraider.(and it could be any side!?!?!) Or 12" deploy 2" able to annihilate av12 side armour etc up to 12" (tricky finding points back with that though..so needs to be a vehicle of incredible tactical importance)

Problems- outflank is proving to be a really tricky game mechanism..look at kings list he's taking a 10 point upgrade that will dealy the squads arrival and he can force you to reroll your outflank sides. (gah).. It can be avoided by small armies (the type that take landraiders) by them huddling into the middle of the board.. however this means they are all close together and squishy for any templates you might dump on them. Chosen don't score.. only contest-

If you keep the defiler..then bolster the plague marine squads..?

The defiler is tricky.. I rant about him somewhere I can't find out where so I'll just summarise..
He's not great on bowling ball tables..because he's so big he can never get obscured and at the GT you have to be a little scared that the tables at the "not so awesome" end have been a bit sparse in previous years.
He's int 3, so in CC gets totally trashed by ironclads, demon princes, most things..6 attacks on the charge is awesome but hitting even guard on 4s means you can be tarpitted so you need to go for expensive (not 20 model) units.
Str8 ap3 is novel its not a vindie..But it means you have a chance of not being a waste against fast mech armies who are far away (where fleet would still just have you spend the game chasing your tail).

(looking for 3 dots =therefore..might have to make one) tactica tiny Defiler.. take out ironclads and MCs with other stuff in your list.. throw him into an expensive squad with only 1 or 2 fists in. (not a chainfist). Against mech stuff slow advance blocking LOS to section the board and throw pie plates at units in cover to force most saves....its not an anti AV13 weapon (even with the best of 2 dice for armour penetration) its still only one shot that can and will scatter, and it will struggle to get its points back against lower stuff..(some people take 3 CCWs and a las..not me, but some)
Use the landraider for cover..and try to draw peoples attention to the stuff you need less (make the thing you need least look bigger and scarier and have a nice paint job..won't work against pros at GT who know the defiler..but will work on noob generals who don't know much)

He's tactically awkward..

Other folks going will be taking the 2 landraiders
-I do this..does anyone else or am I a lone nutter
..see if you can stick a combi melta on the landraiders (explanation..because other forums will call me a nutter.. 2 landraiders vs 2 landraiders (or against 4 bandwagon orks etc..) what do you do?..you ram each other just for jokes, try to angle in..sit staring at each other..whoever blinks and gets out first loses (orks don't have to get out they can charge you and treat you as stationary whilst staying in their tanks but thats just sillyness..in this dodgems game having a melta shot would be handy (it must be smurfs can stick a melta on their standard landraiders now :roll: ) You want to be sat at the back lassing,whilst the crusaders and battlewagons need to catch you..so when they come close you have something more deadly..

What about using the termy lord and the 3 troop unit i have and going LR spam and getting 3 LR is it all eggs/ basket with not enough units to cover all the bases?

Well the most objectives you can have in a game is 5, so you could own a majority (and contest the others by tankshocking them with raiders)
Its low on KPS (good for killpoint missions, I'd have to table you whilst only losing only 40% of my army for me to beat it-note tabling someone is a win..don't mean to confuse you)
Its not the worst eggs in a basket.. you take something and times it by 3.

But there are some armies out there that will massacre it.. (how many dark lances does that template dark lance list have 48-52 ish) So in that respect yeah it has a downside.
Thats the same for most things though..we basically play a paper rock scissors game unless we're all using the same codex or build.
If your going for something as radical as that.. you need a lot of studying/playing (do you go water warrior with plaguemarines or emphasise the berserker and take more of them)

Personally I think going above 2 weakens you in other areas against more varied types of opponents..but some armies will just see it and cry I guess.

So played a 5 wave serpent Eldar list last night using 2 LR...... scrapped a 2-1 on Kill points............

but my dice are still rubbish, couldn't hit a cows backside with a banjo, had to play hide and seek with the rhino's to stop him ramming them........... any tips

lost 1 LR when aunit of 6 fire dragon jumped out and toasted it cos I couldn't nail the wave serpent further out :(

Not to sure on how to stop ramming..
I looked around and my only tactical tip (rather than get more ranged guns) was to stick some melta types around and death or glory them.. but the INAT FAQ (not GW.. but generally better thought out) says that skimmers can fly over a unit to ram another..
If I find tips elsewhere I'stick em here.. but we just have to deal with the beardyness of dieing races who treat themselves as expendable and field an HQ whose dead.. (sounds like they should have died out by 3rd ed like the panda :) )

Well as much I didn;t really want to go net list, its obvious that it works better than most of the ideas I've had and I can now appreciate the synergy between DP and the rest of the army........... the Land raider seems an expensive liabilty at 1500pts ( will use in bigger games )

Its how I go about doing this.............

DP.....nurgle / wings 150pts
DP.....nurgle / wings 150pts

7 PM.....pf / 2 melta / rhino 256pts
7 PM.....pf / 2 flamers / rhino 246pts
8 Zerks.....pf / rhino 243pts

2 oblits 150pts
2 oblits 150pts
defiler 150pts

I'd probably like warptime on at least 1 DP ( not sure its essential ) but would likely have to drop a rhino to do that,
like the defiler instead of the 2 extra oblits for a bit of flexibilty.

ps what do you uys normally use for wings for the DP

At least you've got a list that you can now tailor to your own liking. Taking a net list then suiting it to your playstyle isn't a bad way to go...

This is what my GT heat 3 list boils down to at the moment

DP.....nurgle / wings / warptime /175pts

7 PM.....pf / 2 melta / rhino 256pts
7 PM.....pf / 2 flamers / rhino 246pts
8 Zerks.....pf / 208pts

Landraider..... 240pts ( daemonic )
3 oblits.....225pts
2 oblits.... 150pts

1500pts total

the only thing I'm a bit unsure of is whether or not to just go for just a basic DP for 45 pts less and try to find the other 30pts for another oblit, would have to swap the PF champ for a normal PM

any thoughts

Looks solid the swap could be done by making the PMs 6 man.. but I reckon thats not very good.. I reckon you should play it as it is right now :D
