Aeronautica at the Spring 2011 meet up?

Anyone fancy a big Aeronautica game at the meet up? Or even a tournament/campaign event?

Just thought I'd test the water to see interest & what 'armies' we have available.

I currently have c200 points each of of Imperial Navy, Tau, and Eldar. I'm sure others will have spare armies if anyone fancies a game...

Very easy to learn a life time to master

Got an unpainted mixed Chaos squadron - will bring it along

I'm up for playing.. but ain't no way I'm spending ljundhammer amounts to get there..

I'll be taking little versatile pieces of paper. (if per player its relatively small I may try and borrow a few spare hexagons)
Currently i'm just playing a swarm of kamikaze hellblades (gosh they are cheap.... which is probably why a tau drone killed 4 of them on sunday) but chaos are V limited..I'll have probably changed 3 times before spring.

Using the GW epic range you can get a relatively cheap army together:

Orks:
Fighters (proxied death copters) - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110133
Fighter bombers - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110111
Big bommas (proxied landers) - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110135

Imperial:
Thunderbolts - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1101940
Vultures (can proxy as lightnings) - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1101946
Valkaries - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1101958
Marauders - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1101960

Eldar:
Nightwings - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110086
Phoenix - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110088
Vampire - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110090

Space marines:
Thunderhawk - http://www.games-workshop.com/gws/catal ... rod1110039

Of course, it's worth noting that some Forgeworld stuff is pretty much the same price as the GW stuff (Vampires are only a couple of quid more from forgeworld for a far superior model), and I think Valkaries are the same price (although having just put a couple of the FW vultures together, the GW ones will be much easier!)

The flying basis can be bought separetly from FW: http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Aeronautica ... BASES.html

No Chaos or Tau in Epic, but Chaos is easily proxied from Orks/ Imperial, Tau I suppose from Eldar...

EDIT:

Or you can cruse Ebay for scale minatures to proxy up for whatever you like:
http://shop.ebay.co.uk/?_from=R40&_trks ... m+aircraft
These seem to be cheap as chips...

1/300th aircraft, welcome to link city:

www.domsdecals.co.uk

For deals etc.

http://www.raidenminiatures.co.uk/

Excellent clean castings, fast service and for Sci-Fi types the Luftwaffe46 range has some interesting planes.

http://www.heroicsandros.co.uk/

Older range but a good sized range. Madels may come in slightly smaller than others though.

http://www.skytrex.com/294/1300th-modern/

Again a good range.

And when you want to fight proper air battles:

http://toofatlardies.co.uk/index.php?ma ... x&cPath=14

Excellent game, with adaptions for Bag the Mig and Bag the Jedi.

There are other aircraft games like Check your 6 but I have not played them so cannot comment.

I thought the same thing stunty when I saw the thread. An AI game can be tied into the outcomes (or influence later missions) of the 40k games on the weekend.

ah yea forgot to finish my post lol.

yea lots of things we could do.. I think bombing runs could work..
either to destroy fortifications (say bastions) which can be worked into later 40k games
factories if a factory is destroyed the defender loses a heavy slot from the foc
or tank production is delayed forcing 1 or 2 tanks to be placed in reserve
shielding facilities, if not destroyed units within x" gain +1 to cover saves

could also work in things like boming runs into the 40k game using orbital bombardment rules

theres always escort missions too where 1 side has to escort a couple of valks from a to b and the survivors make it into the 40k game..

not being an aeronautica player im not sure how feasable or fair/balanced some of the missions would be im just throwing a few ideas out there.. the ideas above are just things that came to mind while typing and i think they sound pretty reasonable so if we first work out a story we should be able to get some pretty good rules to suit... I think if we aim to do it in 3 stages aeronautica (maybe epic if anyone swings that way), 40k, apoc in that order we could get a decent story..
anyway childs wielding a drum stick (not the chicken variety) so I best go save the TV! (and maybe put some shin pads on)
