Aeronautica Imperialis new models

Postby Spack » Fri Dec 29, 2006 10:03 am

While getting my initial AI order adjusted to add some IG AA weapons (hydras and manticores), I asked about what would be available for AA for some of the other races, and here's what I was told:

IG - Sabre gun platforms, and heavy flak guns (apparently modified Earthshakers)

Tau - Skyray

Eldar - Firestorm

Orks - Flakwagons and Heavy Flak Guns, and Grot Bombs (already seen WIPs)

I also asked about the Eldar flyers, and was told that these should be ready by the end of January. Both versions of the Vampire will be available, and apparently the final models are even better than the WIP ones shown at GD UK (phoenix: http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack93/IMG_2052 , vampire: http://www.ageofstrife.com/gallery/Spack93/IMG_2051 )

thats cracking I must admit Im quite looking forward to playing ai as it seems very interesting and fun!! Besides could make for some very interesting campaign tournaments by mixing it in with 40k. Obviously not in the same game but from a small tournie point of view

The guys at my club have also suggested a 40k scale game of AI - given that I have a Thunderbolt, 2 Valkyries, and a Vulture I probably have enough flyers for this, it's the room space that we might have trouble with :P

I've pre -ordered meself the rule book, however I'm not entirely sure I'll get that heavily into it.
I'm assuming that you can play very small scale scenario's (4-8 aircraft-total) which might get me purchasing a few mini's.
We'll just have to see when the book arrives :D

I can't wait. A 40K ACM game is something I've wanted for a long, long time. Now I just have to hope it's not 3D EPIC for the rules system. Ships Tuesday and shouldn't take more than 4-5 days to get to the States. I really can't wait.

Of course the biggest question is will my wife give me more grief for one big aircraft and targets order or many little ones. :)

man this looks great but shipping to the states always takes a bloody long time for me. Also what scale is this, in terms of both amount of units and scale of the models; 6-8 aircraft seems quite small to me.

It's Epic scale models, and 6-8 is the suggested force size from BL for a game lasting a couple of hours. I should hopefully know more this week - AI starts shipping today so I should get it before the end of the week :D
