Rules Question Ref: Tailing and Landing/Take off

Postby conscriptboris » Sun May 24, 2009 3:52 pm

Ive had a read through the AI rule book (once you take out the crap there is very little!)

Anyway, Tailing Fire! says that the aircraft behind gets that extra shot before movement, does this also mean aircraft that can fire backwards can fire aswell?

I cant see it written (havent seen FAQs) but have i missed this?

Also aircraft that can hover, do they have to follow the rules of landing and taking off?? ie a full movement in a straight line or can they just hover straight up?

regards,

Elvis

BTW im investigating the book in order to get my fleet ordered, at the moment im struggling with coolness rather than actual worthiness :)

I think tailing fire only applies to the aircraft following, not the one in front.

As to hover, check the FAQ - they don't have to move to go up or down, they can stay in place.

Thanks mate, i had just checked the FAQ (FAQ 2 pg 2) it mentions the hover.

I did think that the flyers wouldnt be able to fire backwards, but i do believe this is something I might pose to FW?

Been a long time since I played AI (got planes still to put together) but I'm pretty sure the tailing plan is the one which shoots and can only shoot the one in front (the one it tailed). It takes a while to figure out how to get planes into that position.... and then your opponent figures out how to avoid it!

aye true, but is the extra shooting phase before the movement, so effectively you could get two shooting phases at a plane before it moved again!

Obviously this is hard :P
