Scheduled Maintenance Wed 22nd July 2009

Postby Spack » Wed Jul 22, 2009 12:59 pm

Tonight at around 7:30pm UK time the Age of Strife site will be temporarily offline. Please do not panic! Normal service should resume between 8:00pm and 8:30pm UK time, subject to delay should there be a technical hitch in the maintenance.

After this maintenance window the site will look a little different. Again, please do not panic! All user accounts, forum posts, and gallery images will be retained. All links to existing posts and gallery pics will still work, albeit redirected to their new location.

Is this the long anticipated changeover to the new site?

Indeed it is. I guess my vague hint of "will look a little different" wasn't enough of a hint :P

Nope, that was the connection. It's fine again now, but I'll be keeping a close eye on it.

Yeah, it's somewhat flakey at the moment. Our ISP has engineers looking at it right now, seems that something is flooding the router from the outside and is causing it to max out the CPU.

Hmm, is it?

Our ISP is shipping a new router to us ASAP in order to rule out impending hardware failure.

Looks like today is the day to do maintainance on the entire system!

Just added the first and last post hover text to the Last Active Topics list on the forum home page. I'm still looking into the cookie issue - it's odd, it's like the site is resetting the cookie when you return after more than a few hours, and I can't figure out what's causing it.

I've had it "forget" who I was between pages or when clicking to reply to a post...

I thought it might be something to do with using an old bookmark (modules.php?name=Forums) which then redirected... but I'm not so sure now.

I thought my laptop was ok, but my desktop not, but my laptop did it this evening when I first connected. I have found some info about a fix for Board3 Portal version 1.0.3 to do with sessions being reset, but I'm running 1.0.2 on here at the moment. I'm going to dig through the 1.0.2 code tomorrow and see if I can figure out if there's a similar issue that this same fix might cure.
