All Quiet On The Martian Front

Postby Taumaul » Fri Jun 06, 2014 12:05 am

One of the guys at the club brought in his AQMF figures in tonight that had arrived as part of the huge kickstarter program he pledged to.

Martian tripods are massive and they must stand roughly 6" high and are very well made and paint up a treat. The tanks are really nice and you get loads of spares on the sprues.
Scale is closer to 18mm than 15mm with the infantry standing taller than Flames of War figures.
Rules appear to be pretty straight forward and the larger rulebook has the army lists in the back whereas the mini rulebook doesn't. It also has images of forthcoming releases like the British and there's French and German models to follow but no images for those.
Cgra and myself put an advance order in for the mega pack with an extra big rulebook weeks ago and we are really looking forward to it.
We intend to use Flames of War terrain to start with and we might even have to play a few games using DzC terrain. The tripods just looked so cool in among the buildings.

I so nearly backed that game - but I wasn't sure I would get anyone at my club to play, so decided against it. The models looked so nice. Got any pics for us? :)

I saw it all, if the game plays as fun as it looks I might be tempted.

Had our first Demo game last night. The Game plays very well with a surprising amount of movement and speed. We played 650 points and we used most of a 6x4 table. My Martians ran all over the table. A Martian win was a forgone conclusion until Gav swapped dice. Red ones roll better by the look of things. I eventually lost 2 fighting machines and had to leave the table with my tail between my legs. Human infantry can be a nuisance.

Can't take pictures. My Martians aren't painted
Im waiting on magnets to finish them off.
Ive painted and based one and I have to say they take paint very well and are great models for magnetising. They all come with 3 weapon types and can carry 2 each so magnets are a must.
We will have to use the same one in all the pictures lol

Been to Partisan at Newark today helping to run what was meant to be a demo game with Graham Cummings and Jez Evans. It turned into a several participation games which attracted a lot of attention over the course of the day.
We played 3 games, each slightly varied and each with different outcomes (and yes Chris, the Martians did win a game).
Have attached a few images of the first game set up, unfortunately we didn't get chance to take anymore pictures as we were a bit busy after that.

Looks good. The terrain is interesting and makes a change from the usual GW fare.
