Thanks alot peeps
it took about 15 minutes of attention (the borders) and then 15 minutes of carefree happy spraying and pissing about..then a lot of watching paint dry and cleaning things I shouldn't have had to clean if I'd put 2 minutes thought in (e.g. the table.. brushing down the sheet because it went against the cat basket covered in cat hair etc etc).

Next step controversially the entire web says with everyday frequnet use the dials wear thin.. I'm not a card protector guy, you don't see my comics in individual baggies, but if playing the game 10-20 times is going to make it unplayable I do get a bit itchy and tend to be over precious and smingey about my junk.. so this shizzle needs to be fixed right now.. As previous I found a simple youtube link on how to fix by a great guy.

So I figured I'd give it a bash.

The only thing you might not have is the awesomeness of the 80s which I mentioned in the eldar thread.. fablon.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Clear-Sticky- ... 0548593220 (2.99 a roll you'll use about 1/100 for 6 templates)
So ingredients set up..(took me an age to find my craft knife)
Image
If your anything like me all your stuff is already bolted together really firmly, I used the flat edge of my old craft knife blade as a very gentle jimmy to lever the bolt off..doing this carefully took most of my time..
Image
Use the original card spru to draw out a stencil of the outer ring
Image
Use the roof of the dial to draw the inner circle
Image
now cut.. but if the video taught me one great thing its make the inner thing much bigger there are no details you need near the middle..its kept down by the thing being bolter together and it interfering with the dial movement or squidging around the column is a bugger (I started doing that 1 (it caught on the column) and threw it away rather than killing the dial)
Image
Gently lie it on top to check it meets the criteria (covering the details you want to preserve not messing with the central column or overflowing too much)
Image
Peel back layer and stick down.. this was my first attempt, and with my crap skill level and stuff you can see it was nearly exactly what is required..the other 5 were perfect.
Image
No skill required (its me)- about 40 minutes to do 6 dials..about 10 pence in resources presuming your going to use the fablon elsewhere (I am its going to be wipeable marker boards for my homebrew ships.. pick a manuevre tick a box and then wipe clean... but thats not going to happen till next week I swear.. honest)..

Feel free to chunder amongst yourselves.. I personally would love to see lists your fielding..a pic or two of a battle here and there etc etc.. (I mean start your own threads if you want but...) Star wars!!
If you want a topic for banter-- is it universally agreed han shot first, anyone willing to devils advocate?

Ok so that wasn't exactly controversiall.. and I'm not playing against anything googlable as a netlist.. lets at least give it the time it takes to make our own cheese before we wear out this one.

agreed

I don't really get whats written & I don't want to know yet. It's nice to play a game that's simple enough to make your own mistakes.

if u get fed up of cheesy uber lists there is a x-wing minitaures sqaudron builder avaialable that has a facilty to generate a random list
you pick your side, no of points, and choose whether you want an elite list, a swarm list or a mix
ive used this a lot in pick up games and it gives some random squads but is fun as you learn to get the most out of what you are given

I like that as a plan. Once we've worked out how to play the game with a bit more skill and finesse...

Which judging by our general gaming hamfistedness may take some time! :)

killmaimburn wrote:Ok well that went quicker than expected.. some random lady kept my kids after playscheme so I could get it finished (nice)
I based the approach off something I read about using graphic design programs to make space scapes.. so there probably is a much easier way to do this ..anyhow.
So first acquire a brushed cotton sheet from random relative over 50.. they have it, trust me..
Next measure, using 2 tape measures as a pair of compasses and a piece of wood as a set square
Image
Image I outlined the territory using a red permanent marker and some tippex(ever useful)
Image
Next white glostt paint and something with firm bristles, i used a toothbrush but it was old and not very firm (hold it vertically for less splooge effects.
Image
I then had to run outside with it as (as previously mentioned) white gloss paint on something not waterproof led to table disaster.
I started with a bold white spray..
Image
then blue patches for that 2 tone effect.
Image
Somewhere around here I added grey, because the white and blue need toning down (after spraying) in some areas to create contrasts and auras.(basically some stuff too bright some stuff fadey)
Image
Picture with normal light sapping flash-- the three things are those megablock nid things angelwing recommended sprayed grey to be asteroids.. although they need toning down a lot.
Image
modified flash (bog roll) and colours slightly exaggerated so you can see what I see.
Image
Any words are good words.. so make 'em

just needs ironoing now ;)

Ironing?? why I oughtaaa.
As the domestic goddess of my household I set a simple rule, if it needs to be ironed throw it away and buy something that doesn't need to be ironed.. If you absolutely must wear something that must be ironed.. get a better job.
This thread has gone right off the rails.. somebody iron it back to the straight and narrow.
Time for all this frivolity to c[r]ease.
Gw isn't owned by Tom Corby.. yada ydada

By your reckoning then you should throw that away coz it definitely needs ironing.

The exception proves the rule, (which of course is an odd misquote that ruins the actual point of the origin of that saying)..
here, in a universe without chaos just dark midichloreans.. I try to introduce it, (how, I hear you say).. well
First comes a crease..
then
DR WEIR: Imagine for a minute that this piece of paper…. represents space-time, and you want to get from point “A” here to point “B” there. Now, what’s the shortest distance between two points?
JUSTIN (engineer): A straight line.
DR WEIR: Wrong. The shortest distance between two points is zero, and that’s what the gateway does, it folds space so that point “A” and point “B” coexist in the same space and time. When the spacecraft passes through the gateway, space returns to normal.

Then comes

By refusing to iron I am a servant of chaos..works for me.

I'm not sure where it stands on the forum rules, it being full scans and all.
