Best luck I have had in years!

Postby Cain Tiberius » Tue Aug 09, 2011 12:23 am

Hi folks. I know you're probably not interested. But I can't help it...

I have in the past had something of a bad habbit. I collect a sizable force, get bored with the hobby (usually from painting the same colour for too long..) Box them all up and stick them in the cupboard. 6 months later I'd decide I'd never get back into the hobby and give them to someone I think may appreciate them (before I found ebay anyway) 6 months after that, I'd start collecting again and be mad at myself for getting rid of the last lot.

Well today, some old neighbours of mine from 7 years ago turned up at my mums house looking for me. Long story short (probably to late for that) I had given them my last collection for their grandson who lived with them. He's grown up now and moved onto other things. And they wanted to know if I wanted them back! I ask if they didn't want to sell them? And they said they wanted to ask me if I wanted them, and if not, they where going to dump them at a charity shop 8O 8O 8O .... So rather excitedly I accepted them back...

I had forgotten how much I'd given them...

Yep... All those boxes in both pics... including the Packard Bell box.
And in them..

And what you can't see is a ton of unbuilt/unpainted and in some cases still in its original packaging... Including. 2 Artimis models, another Landraider. Predator. Old Baal Predator (I mean the old rhino chasis), old razorback. Chimera tank. 2 metal furioso's. Gray knight squad in PA (metal). 10 old metal Choas Terminators. 6 metal Raptors. 5 oooold metal Gray Knight terminators. And much much much much much more.... Much will be going on ebay when I can sort it out.. But its gonna take me a a long while..

This is a truely awesome day for me! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Lol, congrats :D

TBH if someone did that to me I'd break down in tears as I really need to sell a load of stuff off or buy another house anyway ;)

I can understand that. But like I was saying. My bad habbit is purging everything I have, so althought my collection should be huge, it really isn't... well.. wasn't. Plus I've been out of work since December, so really been down recently. This lot cheered me up some.

That, sir, is most full of win.

I managed to track down, through a public sector worker database a lady I used to babysit for, whose children (now in 20s) I'd given 10 years worth of minis to..but alas alack and woe they'd left them in an attic in a house move.
So from a similar place I am V happy for you.
Barely even lurking..

Nice one, nice of them to bring them back rather than just flog them for profit. I would interested in taking one of the Artemis models off your hands if your talking about the 54mm inquesitor space marine?

When things like this happen, it helps to retore my faith in humanity.
It would have been far easier for these people to just dump the lot in the trash, but they went out of their way to find you and bring the items back.
Great story Cain!
Good luck with the ebay sales.
