anyone going to this years games day?

i've never been and was just wondering what some people thought about it if they have been before.

Not been for a couple of years, before that I went 4 or 5 years in a row, and every year I used to say "never again, that was crap" and then I'd go again ... and it was pretty crap. Only good part was seeing new stuff, but even that wears off after a couple. It's certainly bigger than it was in the mid 90s (I also went in 1995 and 1996, it was at the NIA back then).

If you like having to push in to see anything, and don't mind the smell of body odour for a few hours, you might like it, but don't got expecting anything more than a giant GW store event, complete with staff screaming Waaargh every minute in the gaming hall.

To Socaddict : Dont hold me to anything but i will see what i can do on the day. plus the figure is what im especially after, i remember it off the 2nd edition box which is what i got all those years ago.

To Nathanael : thank you, i figured the 25th anniversary of WH40K was probably the must for me. i will tell you what i thought about it when the time has passed.

Change of plan - I've decided I can justify coming to Gamesday this year, and ordered a ticket. Anyone else going?

I can't make it either, as I've already mentioned to Josh - Sunday 23rd is setup day for the SOA, Cloud, + Service Technology Symposium which the company I work for is attending as Bookaxis.com, and it looks like I'm going to be down there Sun+Mon+Tue

Decent day I thought - I had nice chats with several of the designers, and picked up the absolutely gorgeous FW horus heresy book - if you have any questions, feel free to pm me or leave a message here.

I quite enjoyed it as well. Glad to see that the shambles of the retail stands weren't repeated this year, It was actually well organised. I thought I was going to have to stand in line for an hour to get the horus heresy book but was given one before the que started! Picked up some pre-release black library books, some amazing dark eldar art work and got some great inspiration. Saw the new Chaos marine stuff as well and Im much more impressed with it after seeing it in the flesh. Good day all in all.

First time I've been - £30 over priced.

Too many queues and crowds to get a game or into the building comp.

Basically paid £30 to go to a shop! - And it ran out of codex and Dark Eldar Finecast

Only plus side was meeting Dan Abnett.

6 Hours there and 3 of them in queues!!!!

I LOVED IT!!!!

the only thing i wanted to buy was the games day figure. my only regret is i didn't realise i could have bought more. i went straight through ignoring everything in the first 2 halls joined the queue for five minutes was through to the till. apparently Forge world was ridiculous.

i played three games. one on the middlesbrough/darlo table. one was a magnetic chaos space marine ship where the models had magnets on their bases and could move all the way around. one wasn't worth mentioning other than i tried eldar and loved them.

tried to get Dark angels information out of the design team but they wouldnt budge.

the wierdest moment was when i bumped into a mate i havent seen in three years by accident
