Age of Strife

It is my Father in Laws 80th Birthday this year and the Mother in Law wanted to decorate his cake with things relating to his life. He spent 4 years in the 1950's stationed in Germany with the RAF and she thought that for one of the items a small jet of that era would be good. I have seen them used in air combat games but do not know where sells them. Has any body any ideas?
The maximum scale size would be 1:144.

Javelin in 1/144 scale - hard to get a normal plastic kit, probably going to be a resin or similar - http://www.welshmodels.co.uk/RAF144.html and phone them up?
