Hopefully the right place....

Postby _stu_ » Fri Feb 28, 2014 2:36 pm

....as its not quite a modelling, painting or gaming project, but Lis and me have our first little one on the way! 12 week scan was on Tuesday, and I'm happy to say that both mum and baby are doing well. We're due in or around the 2nd week in September, which is typically when both of our teams have major projects coming to an end.. Hopefully the competition that month wont be affected too much - I'm probably going to take a month off or thereabouts, so will hopefully get 'some' painting time in - even if its at silly o clock in the AM.

She's already taken to describing it as 'her little princeps' :D

Congratulations to you and the Missus! This is great news! :qgreenjumpers

Is this your first? As a father of 2 I can tell you there's nothing better than having kids. You get to see everything for the first time all over again.

And to respond to the thread title...of course this is the right place! If you can't share news like this with your mates, who can you tell?

Although....maybe this should be in the project logs forum? :D

Thanks all :) Showed Lis the replies on the thread which made her smile... It is our first, although after we lost my mum we took on guardianship of my sister until she got to Uni, so we have some experience of the 6th form years :)

@ Talus - I've spent 5 or 6 years now without a proper hobby area / man cave so I'm making sure I get to use it, even if it means getting the little one involved (great idea btw King!) I think I'm largely to blame for my brother, brother in law and wife having a vested interest in gaming / 40k IP, so I'm fairly sure the little one will be involved in some shape or form... they might actually be able to teach me and Lis 40k properly as we still haven't really got our heads into the mechanic yet....

Congratulations. Hope you have more success with getting your little one into the hobby. I've got a teenager glued to her phone, and a nine year old glued to Minecraft

Thanks everyone ;)

@Spack - so far my conversion rate is at 100% although my sister is a few steps behind the rest as we just got her into Risk over Christmas. Small Toy Soldiers - Check! Dice - Check! We havent decided whether the next step for her should be Epic, 40k, Blood Bowl or X Wing..... although I guess blood bowl 'looks' most similar to Risk?

A little thread ressurection goes a long way, and I thought I'd share this pic as we both really like it.

We're still a few weeks away from our due date, but were away this weekend to celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary and get some chill time in before little madam comes along (Yes, we're having a girl :)) The idea was to get out and about with the cameras, which we did - but this shot came about while we were chatting in the B&B and saw a reflection in the mirror. It's probably my favourite from the weekend, and is taking pride of place in the 'bump' album :)

It's a nice change from my usual landscape and wildlife stuff :)

Our little Mr was due the same day as our anniversary..... I was more pleased he was a fortnight late then she was. :D I wish we'd had time to get away before hand. Lucky bugger! ;)
