Can someone who plays this give me a heads up about army creation. What is required, what units to include, can u have 1 type of model in a unit, is there a FoC type thing, that sort of stuff.

Thanks in advance.

I've only looked at it briefly, as I'm otherwise engaged at the moment.

The rulebook is fairly impenetrable though, I agree. The first comment here: http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2013/06/ ... i-get.html has a rejigged rulebook which is (apparently) a little less confusing than the real one.

This is the army list creator: http://infinitythegame.com/army/ but I've not played with it, so I'm n ot sure if it'll help...

Doh - the first link was wrong for the different rulebook here it is:

http://www.belloflostsouls.net/2013/06/ ... i-get.html

Go to the first comment for a "better rulebook" - beware though, I've not looked at it fully myself.

Do you know if there are must take units? Ie troops in 40K. I hear that some missions require certain units but not sure which.

Nope, no idea, sorry.

You can search BOLS & 3++ by keyword & I know that they've run a couple of short seires on it. But like Malifaux, it's really one of those games where you need to be shown how to play I think.

Have you tried you tube? It's good for Malifaux, but not checked Infinity.

I haev been lead to believe there's a HQ requirement, and that there's a heavy weapon cap relative to the size of the game.

Its been a while since I last played a game of Infinity (my club had good run at playing for some months early this year).

Army List generation is both simple and hard.
You must have a Lieutenant Unit to lead your group
Otherwise units have an 'availability' value to limit how many duplicate models you have.
SWC - Special Weapons Cost is capped based on size of battle, you will find that certain have a SWC cost.

Otherwise spend points on what you want.

As you said, some scenerios require certain skills or units like Hackers. I've found the game to work best when you play for the mission but you can still win by taking down 60% of opponents force.

My Example Aleph 200pts
GROUP 1 (Regular: 5/Irregular: 0):

MARUT Lieutenant (Strategos L3) MULTI HMG, Heavy Flamethrower, Nanopulser / AP CCW. (3 | 122)
DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (13)
DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle / Electric Pulse. (13)
SOPHOTECT Combi Rifle, D-Charges / Pistol, Knife. (31)
YUDBOT Electric Pulse. (3)
DAKINI Tacbot Combi Rifle + Light Grenade Launcher / Electric Pulse. (1 | 18)

4 SWC | 200 Points

Marut is the Lieutenant
with Sophotect Medic\Engineer with Yudbot to run around for her
with 3 Dakini grunts

Bit of a brute force team with the Marut taking point - but hopefully this helps.
Use the website army generator than the book.

Love the models, game play and rules do take a lot of effort to learn / understand.

Actually played a game that lasted 1 turn and I didn't move a single model and lost!!!
Whereas another game lasted 2 hours where no one got killed and I won due to my Hacker downloading the information first.

so you can basically take any single model from the range of the faction you want to field? I was looking at Aleph too, wanted to take Achilles with some close range weapons and a couple of snipers and machine guns plus a hacker if the points stretch far enough, this is purely from a rule of cool on the models front tho.

Agreed I liked the look of Aleph before I even read the rules, also got Yu Jing as I thought the idea of them was cool.

Note, some models belong to Sectorial Forces and have additional restrictions on inclusion on a list, which I had to be careful with buying Yu Jing. Also Paridiso Campaign has added some more restricted models.

I was looking at this as an alternative skirmish while waiting for Deadzone, but didn't think anyone I knew played it. I may have to look at the PanO a bit more closesly now Phil . . . :)

And great link for the "amended" rulebook, LH!

Id playtest this with you Bane. I got as far as reading the official rulebook but as you know nothing sinks in without playing the game a few times first.

Mercs looks interesting. No rulers, the character card is used for that, a snap-to-cover feature, only around 5 models per side (so a real skirmish). I think it looks pretty good. I think the army boxes are about £40 and include the quick-start rules too. Would probably try it, but I don't think many peeps at my club would play it more than once, as it's "not like 40K". There will always be a few looking to try new systems, but probably not enough to sustain it.
