I heard somewhere that the thing about them dumbing down the equipment before sale was just a software thing and the folks hacking it for PCs are getting some amazing stuff off it, that would otherwise cost their reserch grants 3 or 4 thousand.

and there is already a windows device (soft for kinnet) to "use your desktop like tom cruise does in minority report" available for 20£

Although I did have a very smug friend show off a 3DS with the magic card and the bug invasion last week. 3 d screen (no glasses) of my room with bugs swarming around it that I had to kill etc. (TOY)

Did you ever see the Wii VR head tracking stuff from Carnegie Mellon? You can see the 3D effect even on the 2D video clip.



Console gaming is definitely pushing HID R&D forward for relatively low cost.

I had seen that before.. (a few years old?) the thing about the kinnet thing is it really is just popping up everywhere industry- I was randomly watching a news report (CBS or sometother thing I had no reason to be watching) and this company were talking about how their 2D scanners cost 15 times more than the 3d partial rendered scanners the kinnect were now giving their production line.


EDIT for embedding, 2 kinnects for dual source 4d environments (well its recording time too ain't it )
