hmm, like i didnt see them results coming, this is a very liberal website!

Im labour, however in the end i didnt put me vote in, i support labour ethos, however the current leader and many members of the cabinet need to disappear and let in some young blood!

so instead of voting for someone i dont like, i havent voted.

I was the very first person to vote at my polling station. Ummed and ahhed between two candidates, wishing I'd bought some dice with me.

@11pm I Pm'd (A not THE)matt (see facebook around mid day for him to confirm I said that) and said..Cons 299, labour 250, lib dems 40-60.
But it took till 4.30 before I knew I was correct and 5.15 before I could sleep.... that was some awesomeness.
And it was only morning that the figures sat down like that... Cons 285 labour 235, lib dems 50.(with 53 to declare)

Question is, will torys be able to scare the DUP into alliance after having their head chopped off last night? Which leader will be the moral majority "lets play chicken" first? I was PMing with a tory embedded last night and it was like mirror world we both said
"I think gordan/david will form a minority government and dare the other party to start some sh1t,so gordan/dave can get the moral upper hand" (which we after we saw the other side could do it to decided was playing chicken with the 1st ministry)
I did vote lib dem, and my seat went bright blue.(but apparently its a mate of said embedded so thats only terrible not apocolypse)

Oh dear, what a pickle!

What we need is a Labour/LibDem alliance, get mandate for voting reform, then re-hold the election in a year. I feel dirty for even saying that...

Results as at now (08:18 07/05/2010):
Conservative: 286 seats - 36.3% of votes
Labour: 237 seats - 28.9% of votes
Liberal Democrats: 51 seats - 22.9% of votes
Others: 27 seats - 11.9% of votes

Could anyone explain to me exactly how our voting system is fair or democratic? Based on voting %'ages the seats should be (based on 602 results in):
Conservative: 36.3% of votes - 218 seats (68 less than actual)
Labour: 28.9% of votes - 173 seats (64 less than actual)
Liberal Democrats: 22.9% of votes - 137 seats (86 more than actual)
Others: 11.9% of votes - 72 seats (45 more than actual)

If we are going to keep our current electoral syatem, can someone explain why we have Scottish & Welsh MPs when they have their own parliaments & England returned a massive Conservative victory?

Rapidly losing faith in this.

Rapidly getting bored of hearing about it now.

It sucks supporting the losing team (especially when they throw it away in added time - it's just like watching Arsenal!)

Bring in the form of government that David Eddings thought up in The Tamuli.

As soon as you receive a policital position all your worldly goods are sold and that plus all your assets are put into the public purse.
For the duration of your fixed term in office the state pays your living costs (strictly controlled).
At the end of your appointment you get back however much money was put in the government coffers but at an interest rate equal to how much the economy has grown or shrunk.

Makes effective governence more personal.
You can have principals and keep low growth but it's at your personal risk..
When you wish upon a star, your dreams can come true.
Unless it's a meteorite falling to Earth, which will destroy all life, then you're pretty much hosed no matter what you wish for.
Unless it's death by meteorite.

@Ljundhammer: lulz (+1 for the arsenal reference :( )

Personally, I'd like to see everyone vote for a party as a whole and seats distributed per the %. Parties would obviously have to rank their candidates prior to the election. Which seats candidates get could be allocated based on the % vote in individual constituencies (so where possible a constituency gets an MP that reflects the highest polling party in that seat). You'd probably need a couple of tie-breaker rules to clean up the bottom end.

Oh, and I was up from 3.15am yesterday, walking the streets between 4.15am and 9.50pm.... if they attempt another election next year there will be words had!

you mean a PR list based system? Whilst generally a fan.. it does mean that the sh1t that floats is set no matter what- unless you also invigorate the 1922 commitee and the NEC.

Agreed.. legal action for the missing votes/hanging chads, or something so weak it only lasts through one policy will bring the wroth of the internationals down on us.
But thats the problem with FPTP, all these unclear elections and bartering (thats a shove full of irony based on the stuff people normally hurl at PR). It comes down to the who blinks first (isn't it a tory mantra he who bears the dagger can never claim the throne?)
