Is that it? You ask for an off topic forum, and you post that?

Never used Skype, I run a TeamSpeak server though and used to use it a lot for gaming.

Skype soooo does not have the best quality, and uses a shedload more bandwidth than it should. I install VOIP systems for a job, and quite frankly the skype codec sucks monkey balls, there are free codecs that use 8kbps for better than voice quailty (normal phone line) calls. Admittedly skype has a very nice interface, and can run on PDA's which alot of softphones cant, so we do use it with some of our systems, admittedly the enterprise version which is slighly different.

Are you still on your TS2 server sometimes Spack? I downloaded it the other day cause some mates use it for playing CS, some use Ventrilo. If you're still on your server sometimes, let me know, we can chat a bit then
The 'guest' above was me, btw.

The only real advantage of TS2, is its client runs with bugger all memory. Apart from that it has shockingly bad quality, and uses a tonne of bandwidth.

Well Bop, I've had bugger all problems with TS2, and the BW use wasn't bad at all - DC was a bw hog, and I can happily play that online and still use TS2 fine.

Matze, yeah my TS2 server is still up, but it's passworded, and I'm rarely on it. I'll look at opening it up to people on the channel for a laugh :P

Oh, and the Guest post had me stumped for a bit - then I realised I'd left the forums with public permissions, so I've flipped them all to registered to prevent any more Guest posts ;)

Couple of friends and I use Skype on a regular basis to pwn the servers in the online games we play. I have to disagree with BirdofPrey here though. I have yet to find a VOIP program that sounds as good, even while gaming, and is easy to use, supports conference calls, etc.
