Stupid notion, unkillable unit.

Right, I didn't put this in rules, as it is truly apalling. :D
Don't shout at me!

A while back, in 4th, I wrote a campaign system that we used, that was pretty sucessful.
One of the special events that it could generate, was a "massacre" or atrocity, carried out by an enemy squad, that you had to avenge by wiping it out (a secondary objective within the larger mission).

I thought it might be a good idea to play a game like this, with the destruction of a certain unit, your main objective.
Problem was, the unit would always get put in reserve.
After a bit of thought ...

P67, dedicated transports.

I have my squad of ultra-baddies, I want them in reserve to keep them safe, as long as possible.
8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O 8O

I decide to place them in reserve, so I have not deployed them.
This means I can declare them to be in a dedicated transport that they didn't purchase as they havent been deployed.
The dedicated transport cannot be deployed with a non-dedicated unit in it, so they could never be deployed.

There are probably holes in this, but I thought it was funny enough to post anyway.
:D :D

Page 95, Preparing reserves, 4th paragraph, "Remember that a dedicated transport can only be deployed, and consequently can only be kept in reserve, either empty or transporting the unit it was selected with (plus any independent characters)."

Other than that, and interesting idea Ruffian!

Any unit that cannot be deployed on table by the end of the game counts as dead.

A unit that deepstrikes on turn 5, but mishaps - delayed - for example, if the game ends with no turn 6.
That is not dead which can eternal lie

and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die

Good point sir, well made!
That'll teach me to start shouting before I have checked it out (oh no it won't)!

@Chromedog.
I wouldn't call this a standard mission.
That reminds me, do the Knights play in your brother-in-laws railway stadium and how is Paul Harragon?
