If anyone is a regular on warseer, the trolls are at it again. It looks like three people with multiple accts (against board rules, but all you need is multiple email addresses to pull it off - I mean, I have six of them). edit: email addys, not 'seer accts. :D

Not as blatantly offensive (image-wise as before) but still annoying.
It's times like these that I wish we did live in a cyberpunk world, and it was possible to sic a black ops team onto their a%%es.

Any more intel on these Trolls? Who are they? Are they flaming, or just trolling? I haven't really noticed anyone causing problems. Just seems to be the typical noobies having no manners and not bothering to read the forum rules.

Apparently they are 'known' to the mods.
They are 'apparently' some lamers from 4chan (which is not to imply that ALL 4chan-ers are lame, just these ones).
Their first go consisted of slagging and offending 'gaming nerds' with insulting posts and/or offensive images (some almost goatse worthy) during the mods 'off-time' (even with mods in different zones, there's going to be a time when a forum won't be watched).
When the mods came back, it was cleaned pretty quickly, only to reappear today. It's gone again.

Banning or blocking IP addresses only works if they have a static address (and can be changed easily enough). Most lamers like these will have their machines set for dynamic DNS IP allotting, so they have a random IP address each time they log back on.

just a quick warning to those that arent in the know when it comes to image boards: if you are curious as to what "almost goatse worthy" means and decide to look the word up, make sure its not an Image search (you dont want to see what it refers to 8O).

(now, wheres the "i feel sick" smilie?)

i never expected 4chan (or similar) to attack a GW related site - i was under the impression that they were just as geeky as we are...

thanks for letting us know, chromedog. :)

That is the reaction to seeing it and that says enough to me.

Just doing my 'community service announcement' bit.

Yeah, that was pretty much my reaction to being introduced to it by some mates with warped sense of humour.

As for 4chan ppl not usually attacking other geek sites. Some people in every scene have a chip on their shoulder and feel the need to put down others - and gamers are seen as an easy target for a lot of them.
GW has done a lot to push gaming into public view, but it has a downside as well. We're a more visible target. Patrons of the GW stores in malls can probably attest to this.

If that's a comment on my dissing of the oxygen thieves who disrupted my warseer perusal a few nights back, See my previous post.
I don't believe ALL 4chan-ers are like this. Most of them are probably fine people (I don't actually know anyone on there, though, so that's just a supposition).

Even goths pick on other 'weaker' targets (emo). It's a weakness found in many mammals.

I mean, we're all geeks (car-geeks, sports-geeks, etc) so why can't we all just play nice in the sandpit?

what i didnt know until this thread prompted me to do some research, is that 4chan has its own "traditional games" imageboard (where they discuss 40K, WHB etc, plus RPGs and other games). :!:

(i wont post a link as the site is hardly suitable for minors) ;)

so it doesnt look like this is an "anti-wargaming" thing at all - maybe someone there had a problem with WS in particular?

p.s. if there are any threads on 4chan about this invasion, could someone PM me a link? i'd love to read what they say...

Part could also be that Warseer is very heavily moderated. Some guy could have gotten banned quickly for talking about stuff that is somehow against the rules and then got mad. It isn't too hard to do serious attacks on a site like that. Doing it from a university means that if WS does do an IP ban then it hits a lot of other users hard.
