Torchwood 4.

Postby killmaimburn » Mon Jul 11, 2011 6:08 pm

3 radio play prequels started today
http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b012hkvt
The new series (having started in US last week) starts on BBC1 this thursday at 9pm..
IF rumours about the series are to be believed its gonna be kind of weird..Bill Pullman (US president in independance day) playing a child murdering peadophile member of the team.
Walk on bits for keira neris lady from DS9 and Q from TNG.
Nuff..(it comes at a very dry period of TV so I'll be watching it no matter how horrific the bits thrown together end up)

never could get into the new Dr Who (eccleston onward) and I think torchwood killed itself with guys kissing lol
I dont think tv is too bad at the mo.. The V+ box is always recording something.. although several programmes I love have been cancelled over the past year.. more recently V and SG:U which I thought were great and had plenty of life in them.. The annoying thing is I then see shows I detest like Sanctuary or Spartacus:Boring and Pants getting renewed.. no justice lol.
Falling skies looked good which is a mini series, part 1 was on at the weekend..
I also recommend Burn Notice and A Town Called Eureka!

V wasnt too bad, yet to see series 2 though (gotta wait for DVD since i dont have sky or virgin tv (got their broadband though :P)

i was rather miffed Knight Rider got cancelled, it had potential!

who'd have thunk that Val Kilmer would have made a good KI3T?

It wasn't cancelled in the way in which we normally use the term, the writers pulled out and said they wanted to make grimdark and slow universe instead..so thats what happened.

I had alot of patience for V up until about halfway through series 1.. when do we get lizards daggnabit.. 80s version was more awesome in several ways.
Will probably naughty catchup s2 over the next few weeks (same with that one about the secret repository of stuff warehouse thingamebobby)
Torchwood S1 was childish pap (I still hold that the (kids channel other spin off) sarah jane adventures with its absentee dad turning up addicted to steriods and genocide guilt fake parent tortures was more grownup).... but it started to find its feet in s2 and the children of earth mini series 3 was awesome "we wish to snort your children to get high, give us them or we destroy the planet..discuss(all governments instantly become collaborators)" was bestest stuff I've seen on TV in ages.

Tried to get into town called eureka but tried to get into it midway through when they'd gone back to 1965 or something and it was very hard to pick up (will try again soon)
Still have true blood queued up,
Don't really have time for all the spartacus spinoffy things.

I’ve watch the first two episodes of Torchwood: Miracle Day. It’s great. They are taking the premise pretty seriously. Makes for interesting sci fi.
Has anybody seen Alphas. An American superhero show, kinda like Misfits without the swearing and nudity.

Yes, this is the irst Torchwood I've enjoyed.

Getting it out of Cardiff does wonders for the credibility of the show. The new GrimDark is pretty funky.

Query..does that mean you didn't see children of earth (s3). They blew up cardiff, spent a load of time on a housing estate and the rest in london.
That was the series they took grimdark to 11.. they had jack torn to pieces and reformed from the soup they could pour into a body bag (screaming all the way from his organs being reformed till his skin had finished regenerating). Then as soon as he could talk given a concrete bath. (If you dislike tonights the night for mediocre stars alright barrowman..thats the season for you)
As (as above) the primary thing was instant capitulisation and assistance by the civil service to a bunch of child snorting aliens.

If I have a complaint about the new one (4th,) its that the 3rd (5hrs 5 nights)really knew what it was doing when it did it one night after another for just 1 week day 1 day2 day 3OMG.. a hammering wall of attrition dread each night.. this standardised once a week thing doesn't let the dread grow (for my generation at least)..I'm kind of thinking I should ignore it all and watch it as a 10 hour catchup...views?

Yeah, I do vaguely remember that & it was quite good.

Torchwood was spoiled for me because of the 'trapped in Cardiff' feel of it. Somehow crazy stuff being covered up in Washington or New York seems more plausible than in Cardiff. However, this doesn't explain Lord Malek...
