X wing tournament results

I'm afraid I don't have any photos, as this was my first X wing tournament & I'm not very good at flying, so adding another thing to remember was a bit too much for my little brain!

I took:
Chewie - luke, expert handling, millennium falcon upgrade
2 blue squadron b wing wings with fire control systems

I went with the aim of winning one game.

Game 1
3 x blue squadron b wings
2 x prototype a wings

I was severely outgunned and unfortunately outflows. I managed to take out 2 of his b wings, but lost all of my ships. Great start, reminding me of 40k tourneys already!

Game 2
Krassix trellis bounty hunter with heavy laser cannon
Soontir fell with stealth device and veteran instincts
ps4 tie interceptor with stealth device and veteran instincts

For some reason my opponent thought that flying his interceptors straight at my ships was a good idea. I took the gift presented to me and took out the interceptors over turns 2 and 3 for the loss if a b wing. A few turns later and the bounty hunter wad gone too. Not much of a stretch, but victory (!) and mission accomplished.

Game 3
Omicron group shuttle with video
Soontir fell with push the limit and stealth device
Tie advanced with cluster missiles
Dark curse tie fighter

A better player than the, last game. I managed to take Soontir out early again, but lost both b wings in the process, along with some awful flying on my part with Chewie stuck on a subtle asteroid for 2 turns. Once the b wings were gone this just seemed to make Chewie angry, he went in to take everything else out whilst sustaining little damage himself, his maneuverability meant that the shuttle didn't stand a chance, and the ties weren't able to do enough damage before they went down.

Game 4
2 x blue squadron b wings with fire control systems
1 x dagger squadron b wing with advanced sensors
Biggs darklighter x wing

This guy was proudly wearing his 2013 world championship the shirt, and I'm lead to believe he placed in that, so I wasn't expecting much out of this... I'd watched a couple of his games and he liked to fly in formation to ensure biggs tanked early damage. I used this to my advantage and set up on a flank as he took the centre. I then flew like the wind in an attempt to get behind him to corralle his ships around an asteroid, or force him to split biggs to get back to me. He stayed in formation, and got stuck around the asteroid with my blues in front, and Chewie behind him. He still had a hard hitting squad, and I still had to get through biggs, so it wasn't easy, but by then it was a very broken Chewie (2 hp remaining) against an equally broken dagger b. Due to Chewie being more manoeuvrable I managed to get my shots away first for another win.

All tolled 3 wins, 1 loss, and I ranked 2nd out of 10 players. Netted myself a card box, an official acrylic range ruler and an alternative art card - thanks FFG!

I'm really happy, and looking forward to another tourney.

Very nice job!

Game 4 looked like a classic case of overconfidence! Instead of playing his opponent, he went with his standard (yawn) tactics. You on the other hand had very wisely observed his gameplay and had adjusted your tactics to counter his formation and plan. Seems that when his formation fell apart, so did his plan, and so did his game.

Good result for you overall, and looks like you scored some nice and well deserved swag out of it.

Now that you're a seasoned veteran though, no more excuses for lack of pictures. If necessary, drag KInG Video Productions along with you to do the filming! ;)

All in all, a big :eusa_clap :thumbsup

lol I must watch a game. I'll check beats of war, they usually have a decent demo for each game, seeing as James hasn't posted anything ;)
