8th Edition Rules Questions
Had a few debates come up over the weekend, some just mis-using of 7th edition rules or incomplete reading of the 8th Edition Book.
The following are some interesting findings over the weekend.
1) Shooting At Ridden Monsters with Warplightning Cannon
I always thought that you randomised all hits against ridden monsters but looking at Page 105, both the rider and the mount are automatically hit if the monster's base is touched by the template (note that this includes bouncing cannonballs!).
I found that this is great against Lizardman Stegadons - so all 5 crew are hit as well and the WLC allows no Armour Saves.
2) Charging a Fleeing Enemy
This happened in my game against an Orc Warlord, after making him flee in their turn, my Plague Monks charged just 2" to contact him. My opponent questioned afterwards in Bugmans but I didn't have my rulebook.
The paragragh states on Page 23 'If, for whatever reason, a unit completes a charge against a fleeing enemy, move the charging unit(s) into combat with the fleeing enemy as described earlier and then the fleeing unit is run down by the chargers. Most of the unit is hacked apart or trampled to death, and the few survivors head for the hills with no intention of fighting further - remove the entire unit as casualties.'
The only contention I can see that he has is that he felt that he should have made an additional flee move of 2d6" away (he would have to roll double 6 to escape as I had rolled a charge move of 13").
What do other people think should have happened - an additional flee move or not?
3) Failed Stupidity Test that causes a unit to hit an enemy unit - does it count as a charge?
The rules on Page 76 state - this move is otherwise treated in exactly the same manner as a failed charge. The Stupid unit cannot take any further action that turn, so cannot declare charges or make a shooting attack.
So I guess that the Stupid unit ends it's move 1" away from the enemy unit?
