AAR - Malifaux - Rasputina vs Viktoria

Postby DaBoss » Wed Jan 18, 2012 10:17 am

Been a while since I've written up a battle report, managed to get a few snaps with the camera during my game of Malifaux. Not an easy one to do as it's 'I-go-Y-go' within a round, so things change quite rapidly.

Hopefully caught a bit of the flavour of the game, enjoy.

Nice write up Phil, was interesting to watch some of this and try and get an understanding of the game. Really like using cards instead of dice to resolve things, nice change. Surprised to see Chris get the win after watching the ridiculous amount of high cards you were drawing early in the game. Going to look at getting a little crew together and the rules and cards, so maybe we can get a game at some point. All i need to do now is not get too much into it and spend loads of money! Especially not on all that wicked looking terrain they make - thats half what made me interested, could easily lose alot of cash just buying a few boxes of that!

Hi Sam,

If you want to experience the game we should line up for a Monday night in the near future.
Cost is quite low compared to GW, Starter Box £25, Rulebook £9, pack of cards £4.50 (though you could use normal cards, just makes it easier determining suit).

The Terrainclips looks good on the website, but having seen it in the flesh, it's a bit flimsy and you need to buy a lot of extra clips to make it solid.

As to the game with Chris, I started well but then the power of his close combat models made a difference as my magic started to fade.
Those Control Cards in your hand make a big difference to what happens which brings in the randomness but with some sprinkling of fate.

Glad the write made sense.

Thanks for posting this!

My rulebook and Death Marshalls set arrived today and it was good to read a battle report. It was also good to see you both used a box set with the addition of just one model, meaning a crew can be compiled for under £25!

Looking forward to getting a game in soon vs Bara's Cult of December...
