Blood Angels Vs. Imperial Guard battle report

Postby SalamanderDan » Mon Jun 13, 2011 11:54 pm

Yesterday Lord Cook and I had our first video battle report.

The battle was Objectives, Dawn of War Deployment, and the 5th game in our 'best of three' matchup. Still have a score to settle between the two armies!
Depending on how well this is received, I may wall post some more in the near future.

Excellent. Nice to see Lord Cooks guard in action. Interesting to see how the combined platoon squads did. There has been a short discussion on this subject (started rather innocently by myself. haha) on the warseer forum about the pros and cons of blobbing.

Indeed. They can be a pain to shift, and the large blobs of infantry can block you from getting meltas guns/grenades to the prime targets in a guard army, such as tanks simply by preventing movement.

A Stubborn Ld9 rerolled is a 1/36 chance of failing a test, and 3-4 power weapons stuck in the unit putting out 9-12 attacks can really start to whittle your squads down.

Unless you're cutting through armor as well, it's 40 wounds in CC to remove them from the tabletop as well. With thunderhammers/powerfists being little better than normal attacks. Tarpit unit extraordiare there.

Kudos to the apothecary for finally cutting through them all ;)

Have been pondering one.

Swap out a single assault marine in the flamer unit, that'll score me enough points to add a meltabomb to the sergeant with a power weapon and a power weapon to the IC Apothecary.

Decent trade-off I think.

You guys are so softly spoken..+2 to poshness
Came across really well, relatively long compared to other peeps batreps but didn't drag. 8)
When you listed Lord cooks army you left out the commisar so I was screaming Noob at the camera (later to retract said comment)
It was V handy you managed to get your squad fleeing back to your base, in the end too many games like that are what pushed me into the bloodhammer back line (missile devs and scouts +priest) instead.

Pleasant watch :D (its nagging at me I should know the background music in part 2, 5.55 whats it from? :D )

Meh vimeo..
doesn't require cross indexing your accounts with your google accounts.
Wouldn't need to be split then :D

Music in the background is the Tron: Legacy soundtrack, considering your avatar I would be surprised If you hadn't heard it ;)

Youtube allows 15 minute uploads now, since we hit 17 minutes we were that little bit too long!
