Cheap Tanks for FoW

Postby DaBoss » Tue Mar 15, 2011 11:06 am

Recently I found a supplier of Zvezda 1:100 scale plastic WW2 Tanks, they may not have the weight or all the detail of Battlefront miniatures but at £2.75 a model means I can buy that horde of Russian Tanks or Early War little German Panzer II tanks.

The Supplier is called Models2U - lots more models planned for later this year.

Some photos of the sprues - will post more when I have built them.

Nice find.

I have some of the Plastic Soldiers 15mm Russians and T34's and they are very good.

Especially the T34's that come with both 76 and 85 turret options.

Will be getting abox of their new 15mm Germans they have just released.

They are also releasing some Panzer IV's and infantry support sets.

Trying to persuade Nige to stock them at gamingfigures.

All those who would be interested please post here!

A Gaming Buddy of mine has bought and built a box set of the Plastic Soldier T-34 76/85s, they are very good models just 1mm smaller than the Battlefront ones.

For me I already own 17 T-34/85's - so may just get one box from Plastic Soldier, but for MidWar I only have 10 T-34/76's - wanted another 10 to complete, so was looking to spend £33 with PS, but instead gone with Models2U and have 10 for £25 (10% discount) - I know I could have used both turrets
plus can add the T-26's to the mix.

Looking further into the year - Zvezda are releasing in the Summer
Russians
BM-13 Katyusha - 8 of these Yes please
KV-1
Zis-5 Truck

German
3 tonne Truck
Panzer 38(t)
Panzer IV D
SdKFz 251/1

All at £2.75, so guess if you are looking to get Early/Mid War look here - for Late War Plastic Soldier will cover better.

Another manufacturer I've bought from is 'ForgedinBattle' - they do a good range of resin vehicles for Germans and just started on US Shermans - 4 models for £18, not bad.

Im still umming and ahing over a Russian list using the Plastics, at that price it would be rude not to, but id much rather have British.

All my Russian infantry is from the plastic soldier company. Great minis for the price.

Havant got any of the tanks yet. I like the feel of my battle front ones, heavier feels like they can do more damage :P

I like FoW but refuse to pay battlefront prices so I dont play the game.. a cheaper alternative might change that as long as there are no major scale differances..

These plastics are 15mm, or if you want Metal, Peter Pigs figures are excellent.

Yep - picked up 3 of each from another supplier, built 1 of each and look brilliant at £8.25 instead of £30+ for Battlefront ones.

I've found that they are about 1mm smaller than Battlefront miniatures - thats comparing the T-34s and Panzer III & II.
Looking at the Plastic Soldier ones, you get about the same size difference of 1mm.

It's the weight difference that gets most people, my mate filled his with plastercine to make them feel solid.
