OK there seems to be enough interest in doing a "short" campaign based on the rules that
GW have put out in the badlands book. I have a cloth that is in hex which we can use for mapping and I am looking into having some sort of electric version to put on the site as required. I can also summarise the rules and post them so that we are all happy with them. I am also thinking about rules and the possibility of mercenaries (to allow other players to play one of the games if you can't do it in time for whatever reason). One thing though we need to sort out is just how long we want this to run and how many big games do we want to have?
If we have three armies on our map, of which one will in your home territory, there is a chance that you will need to fight up to 3 games each season - though more likely is one to two, how long do you want to play the games and how many turns do we want before we converge for a big game? And how many big games do we want ?
So for example:
We have 3 turns pers season (with 4 weeks to complete all the battles for a turn), two seasons and then two battles one at the end of each season. This will then be 6 months game time with 2 big battles
Or 2 turns for a season (with 6 weeks to complete) and one battle, a 3 month campaign with one battle.
or just about any variation of turns, time, seasons and big battles.
My thoughts are for a 2 season campaign, each of three turns which need to be completed within 4 weeks (ie. map at club on a Monday, everyone moves and then you have another 4 weeks to complete the battles, the fifth Monday starts the next turn). At the end of the 3 turns we have a big game. Follwed by another three turns and one very bg game at the end. All told about 6 months playing time with about 9 normal battles and 2 big ones.
What does everyone else think?
