FOW Gaming Day - Operation Little Saturn

Postby DaBoss » Tue Feb 07, 2012 11:07 am

A massive write-up of a special gaming day that I did with another of my clubs 'Wycombe Warband'.
A MidWar Historical scenerio between the Germans and the Russians.

A great day was had, loved seeing 50+ T-34 tanks roaming the soviet steppes.

Great write up Phil - thanks for posting. It seemed a bit one-sided though! Surely the Germans didn't stand a chance?

Must say that the German reinforcements where terrible with only 4 Panzer IV F2, 2 Stug III and a Marder arriving.

The other thing that surprised me was that the Axis players deployed their forces so far up the table on Fortress Hill.

I would have deployed closer to the village and use the 40" range of the Flak36 gun to pick off the advancing T-34's (especially as they were Conscript rated, so 3+ to hit at long range).

It would seem that in History Manstein had much better luck holding the village but it came at a terrible cost leaving his Italian allies to be smashed on his flanks.
