After thinking about my Skaven and feeling happy that the army still works in 8th Edition. Wondered about my Vampire Counts and how it effects them.
I remember when we had the change from 5th to 6th edition - my Undead army (which could have a mixture of Vampire and Tomb King type units) went completely down hill and I stopped playing them completely.
Will this happen again? Lets see.
1) Will it be worth using the Horde Rule - Zombies & Skeletons in 10 frontage and 4 to 5 ranks?
Probably the only way these units will survive and get some attacks back as they have such low Intiative and you can't count on Fear working.
2) Unstable Rule - need to have a look at this one next time I see the book.
3) No more than 3 of the same Special or 2 of Rare.
Should not be a problem as I never did take that many of each type - no spam lists.
4) Magic - Black Coach - this could end up being supercharged very quickly and really cause problems to your opponents magic phase - will have to see whay the
FAQ amends this as?
5) More Magic - no more 1 dice Invocation of Nehek - not just the fact that on a 1 or 2 it fails (you had to roll 4+ and at best 3+ before) but that it will end that spellcasters turn for any more spells.
So will likely be going with 2 dice minimum.
Summon Undead Horde starts to look much more useful.
6) Corpse Cart - Will now require power dice to cast its bound spell for ASF
Good news though is will only require 25% core
so 40 Skeletons (10 front by 4 deep) with Command = 340pts
2 x Zombies (20 raise more in magic phase) = 160pts
= 500pts
